He didn't stand up for one song. I mean the entire set, ninety minutes, parked on the bass cabinet like he was waiting for a bus. Everybody else was jumping around and sweating and he just looked mildly inconvenienced, and somehow he was the coolest guy there Some context: I'm 34...

Tyler's garage band wants to learn one "old" song for the church fall festival... what should Grandma suggest??
So Tyler and two boys from his school have a band now they practice in my daughter's garage on Thursdays and you can hear it from the mailbox!! They're mostly doing Green Day and something by a band called Turnstile that I can't really follow lowkey but they've been asked to play...

Do you really like rock music?
I do love some kind of rock music. However, I am actually a fan of pop music. I do realize that there are many people who love and prefer Rick music over other kind of music. So, what about you? Do you actually prefer rock music?

Which band has the most underrated guitarist?
Everyone talks about Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, and Dimebag Darrell.
Who's a guitarist that deserves way more recognition than they get?
Bonus points if you drop a song recommendation.

guitarist at the show last night played the whole set wearing a mechanical watch on his strumming wrist
went to see a local stoner rock band at the bar downtown. the guy plays this wide-open strumming style, hits the strings like they owe him money, and he has what looked like a vintage seiko diver on his right wrist the whole time two hours of that I kept waiting for the crystal t...

anyone else buy records just for the cover art and end up actually loving the band??
ok so I went to a used record shop yesterday "just to look" (lol...) and came home with a $4 LP from some 90s shoegaze band I'd never heard of. i bought it purely because the cover is a blurry photo of a nebula!! i think it's the Horsehead but I forgot my phone in the car so I co...

Who would you say is the best pop artist of all time?
I know that Micheal Jackson is referred to as the king of pop. Many people will choose him as the best without even thinking about it twice. So apart from him, which other good pop artists do you know?

Is classic rock still the gateway into rock music?
I've noticed a lot of younger listeners still discover rock through bands like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Queen, and Pink Floyd before branching out into newer stuff.
Do you think classic rock is still the main entry point for new fans, or are people finding rock through modern bands,...

why do so many rock songs use the phrase 'on the road' like they're contractually obligated
like i get it, touring is a big part of the rock lifestyle and all, but does every song about being in a band have to hammer home the whole 'on the road' thing? its not even that deep. half the time it feels like theyre just filling space between guitar riffs. its such a cliche a...

why do so many rock songs lean on highways as imagery??
like seriously, it feels like half the genre is just 'driving down a long road' or 'left on the highway to nowhere' or whatever. think about it — life is a highway, born to be wild, take it easy even stuff like thunder road or free bird kinda fits if you squint. and dont get me s...

why do so many rock songs use the word 'fire
it’s everywhere. fire this fire that. burning down the house burning love hell yeah they’re on fire is it just an easy metaphor for intensity or passion or something? i get it’s evocative but it feels overdone. like at this point it’s a crutch. i went down a rabbit hole and even...
