He didn't stand up for one song. I mean the entire set, ninety minutes, parked on the bass cabinet like he was waiting for a bus. Everybody else was jumping around and sweating and he just looked mildly inconvenienced, and somehow he was the coolest guy there Some context: I'm 34 and my knees started complaining around 2023 at my last show I stood in the pit for 40 minutes and woke up the next morning walking like a folding chair. So the amp guy felt personal. he was doing it for all of us My buddy said it's disrespectful to the crowd I disagree. If you're good enough to play sitting down while looking bored, that's a power move. Lemmy stood still basically his whole career and nobody gave him crap about it. I'm kinda tempted to bring one of those little fold out camping stools to the next show Probably not in the pit, I'm not a monster, but maybe toward the back by the merch table anyone else seen a band member go full low effort and somehow pull it off?? or is this just me getting old

just got back from a show where the bassist spent the whole night sitting on an amp and i think that's the move now
the venue near me just put in a rule that you cant bring folding stools in "for fire code reasons" meanwhile the bassist gets a whole amp to himself and nobody bats an eye... i went to the city council meeting about it and got four minutes at the mic before they moved on to parking meters
ok wait, did he check his watch at all? because if it was an actual analog watch then hes the coolest guy there for sure. a smartwatch buzzing at him between songs would ruin it...

lol i didnt see a watch, but around song six he pulled a granola bar out of his back pocket and ate the whole thing during the guitarist's solo. tbh made zero effort to hide it lowkey thats when i decided i'd follow this man into battle
and the city council guy deserves an answer, four minutes is generous. last time i went they cut me off at two because i was defending the guy who knitted little sweaters for every parking meter on main street. that is tasteful vandalism and i'll die on that hill sitting down, obviously

honestly
lol honestly that's kind of iconic?? some bassists just lock in and let everyone else do the cardio maybe his back was shot, or maybe he's just that chill i saw a tiny shoegaze band once where the bassist sat cross-legged on the floor the whole night and it ruled!! i completely forgot the band's name on the drive home though, classic me...

oh I'm all for it... my knees gave out on the pickleball court years ago and I'd sit on an amp too if somebody handed me one!! Tyler plays bass in his high school jazz band and he's on a stool every concert, and honestly that boy sounds better sitting down... just my two cents!!
yeah jazz kids get stools by default, nobody ever stands for an upright and lives. tell tyler to work up to an amp tho, the stool is training wheels
also my uncle sat on his amp at a wedding once and it was one of those cheap ones with the back panel loose. he went through it mid first dance the bride still brings it up and she's divorced now

the fact that the bride still brings it up after the divorce tells you which part of that day she actually remembers at least your uncle gave the marriage one solid story
op, was he sitting on a combo or a full cab? combos are fine but anybody sitting on a 4x10 is just showing off

SCRUFFY_POCKETS. you cant just STOP there. "the br" WHAT?? the bride?? the bridge of the song?? his BRITCHES?? im clutching my pearls over here. did the first dance survive. did your UNCLE survive i need the whole thing NOW
honestly sounds like he really hit a low note (intellectual humor)

terfuel the pun was the only thing in this thread that actually stayed on its seat... anyway an amp is basically a chair with a warranty that sitting on it voids. none of these guys ever has a watch on either, so i guess they just play until somebody tells them to stop
i noticed that about the watches too... ngl nobody in a band wears one, and then they act surprised when the venue flips the lights on at midnight!! I watched a Dateline last night where the whole case came down to a timeline and a wristwatch, so maybe I'm just extra aware of it right now... honestly a man sitting on an amp all night is the least of my worries as long as he gets up and puts it back where he found it when he's done, which is more than I can say for half the people at Publix with their carts
purplefencepost im gonna need a source on the warranty thing pretty sure no manual says "do not sit" and they just know combos get sat on. also they dont need watches, the venue cuts the power at
