why are so many tech tutorials stuck in 2015?

seriously why is it so hard to find up-to-date guides for basic stuff like sql joins or setting up a jupyter notebook. ngl every time i google something half teh top results are outdated stack overflow posts or youtube vids with terrible resolution and a narrator who sounds like they're reading from a script written by chatgpt's great-grandparent. like i get that tech moves fast but if youre making a tutorial at least check if the library you're demoing got deprecated two years ago. and dont even get me started on the ones that link to broken github repos. just say 'this is how you do x in 2026' and save us all the headache of digging through ancient threads. anyone else run into this or is it just me being impatient?

yeah i feel this so hard... i was trying to follow a pytorch tutorial last week and halfway through they mentioned a function that got removed in 2019!! like come on, at least skim the docs before recording?? also can we talk about how some of these vids still have 720p resolution in 2026??? its like theyre intentionally trying to make me squint on the flip side, shoutout to the few creators who actually keep things updated like, i found this one channel last month that does monthly "what's new in [library/tool]" videos and its a lifesaver. idk how they find the time but bless em tbh i think part of the problem is that making tutorials is kinda thankless you put all this work into something and then six months later its obsolete. maybe we should all just start a band instead, theres this group called space cadets that makes lo-fi space rock and its surprisingly good for coding sessions... anyway rant over, back to digging through outdated stack overflow posts :/
