seriously why is it so hard to find up-to-date guides for basic stuff like sql joins or setting up a jupyter notebook. ngl every time i google something half teh top results are outdated stack overflow posts or youtube vids with terrible resolution and a narrator who sounds like they're reading from a script written by chatgpt's great-grandparent. like i get that tech moves fast but if youre making a tutorial at least check if the library you're demoing got deprecated two years ago. and dont even get me started on the ones that link to broken github repos. just say 'this is how you do x in 2026' and save us all the headache of digging through ancient threads. anyone else run into this or is it just me being impatient?

like i get it, cities can be cool and all but some of these songs make it sound like wandering around at 3am in the rain is this profound, life-changing experience when really its just cold and kind of annoying. dont get me wrong, i love a good cityscape as much as the next person but sometimes its like... can we acknowledge that cities are also loud, crowded, and occasionally kind of gross? its not all neon lights and existential musings. half the time i just want a song that says "yeah the subway smells weird and i stepped in something questionable but hey, at least the pizza was decent." maybe im just over it because ive been stuck in too many traffic jams lately anyway, whats a city song that doesnt feel like its trying to sell you on the idea of urban life?

does anyone else get this vibe from certain songs? like they're slow and dusty and kinda lonely but in a way that feels wide open and peaceful instead of sad honestly i think it's something about reverb and slide guitar or just the right kind of drone-y synth idk man i cant explain it but i keep coming back to tracks like that when i need to zone out. last night i was listening to this one song (cant even remember the name now, something off a playlist called 'arid horizons' which is such a pretentious name lmao) and it hit me how much it felt like being in one of those old westerns where the hero's just walking through nothing for miles. except without the cactus or bandits. just the vibe. anyone got recs for stuff like that? bonus points if it's not country but still feels like the desert.

like yeah i get it you want to show the highs and lows but sometimes i just wanna see them sitting in a van arguing about gas station snacks or waiting in line at airport security for two hours. its not all sold out shows and wild backstage antics you know... its mostly just waiting around and trying not to lose your mind. maybe thats too real for the mythmaking or something. anyway if someone made a doc that was just a band doing laundry in a sketchy laundromat and eating cold pizza in a parking lot id probably watch the whole thing. 🤦

ok so im thinking about all the weird little roadside attractions that used to be a thing — giant ball of yarn, world's biggest frying pan, places like that. some of them are still around but so many just... disappeared. like nobody cared enough to keep em up, which is SAD but also kinda eerie?? i remember my dad dragging us to see "the mystery spot" when i was a kid and it was so dumb but also kind of magical in a way. idk if i want to go back now but i kinda wish it was still an option for someone else to have that experience. anyway, what’s one you miss or wish you could’ve seen before it vanished? (bonus points if it’s delightfully tacky.)

like seriously, it feels like half the genre is just 'driving down a long road' or 'left on the highway to nowhere' or whatever. think about it — life is a highway, born to be wild, take it easy even stuff like thunder road or free bird kinda fits if you squint. and dont get me started on springsteen. i get that its a good metaphor for freedom or escape but its so overdone at this point. like cant we get some variety? what about trains or boats or bikes even? idk man it just feels lazy after a while, like writers ran out of other ways to say 'im going somewhere.'

also side note: anyone else think the 'open road' trope is way more compelling in country music? at least there its tied to actual stories half the time instead of just abstract vibes anyway rant over, what do yall think?

so i’ve been getting into astrophotography lately (yeah yeah i know, yet another hobby...) and im realizing my poor little 1650 cant handle the stellarium plugins and image stacking software i want to run... it feels like im trying to launch a space shuttle with a tricycle engine!! anyway i was thinking about upgrading but idk where to start... do i need something beefy like a 4080 or would a 3060 do the trick for hobby stuff?? like, i dont need it for gaming or anything fancy just... planets and nebulae lol. i keep reading mixed stuff about cuda cores and opencl support and now my brain is scrambled also random but did yall know the james webb telescope can detect water vapor on exoplanets??!!! like what the heck!!! imagine being the first person to see that data pop up. im lowkey jealous of astronomers sometimes. any suggestions or just general space nerd chatter welcome...

like i get wanting to be creative or quirky but why is it always stuff like ‘golden hour vibes’ or ‘rainy day chill’ when half the songs are just midtempo synthwave or whatever cant we just call it what it is. also why are there so many sunset themed playlists that have zero sunset-appropriate songs. im pretty sure ‘bittersweet symphony’ was not written about watching the sun go down. rant over.

like i get it, you want to show the energy of the crowd but somehow it’s always during the best part of the guitar solo or right when the drum fill kicks in and you’re sitting there thinking “wait what did i just miss” because the camera’s too busy panning over some rando screaming into their friend’s ear. why cant they just stick to the stage for 10 uninterrupted seconds. its not that hard. also whats with the obsession with slow motion crowd shots. honestly nobody needs to see someone’s beer spill in 0.25x speed while the bassline is thumping in the background, thats not ‘artistic’ its just annoying. ...idk maybe im overthinking it but it feels like theyre trying too hard to make live shows seem more “epic” when really just showing the band play would do that fine on its own.
