Perrie Edwards has opened up about her “difficult” relationship with Jesy Nelson during their time in Little Mix.

The singer appeared on the Great Company podcast with Jamie Laing, where she spoke at length about Nelson’s high-profile split from the girl group in 2020. At the time, Nelson said being in the group had “taken a toll on my mental health”.

Now, Edwards has said that Nelson was “difficult” to work with, adding: “Sometimes you just won’t win with people. I don’t want to seem like a bitch, but what upsets me the most is when the other person doesn’t take accountability. That boils my blood.

“I’m not blaming everything on you,” she added, seemingly addressing Nelson. “I’m not saying she’s this fucking monster, and everything was her fault, but take some accountability for your actions and realize that you were difficult, you had difficult moments. Granted, there was reasons for those moments, but you can only pick somebody up so many fucking times before you start losing track of your own sanity.”

She continued to say she had extended support to Nelson, but added it was useless if “they can’t accept the help and the love you’re trying to show”. “I could have done better I suppose, but I thought what I was doing was enough,” she added. “I thought I tried everything. So then to sit there in interviews and be like ‘I wasn’t supported’… you were, though.”

When asked if she ever wanted to rekindle their friendship, Edwards responded: “Part of me wanted to until the documentary, and then part of me withdrew again. If you upset me and hurt me in a way there’s not really any going back, I can forgive, but I don’t want you in my space”. Watch Edwards speak about her relationship with Nelson below:

In an interview with NME in 2024, Edwards further spoke about the “heartbreaking” rift between her and Nelson.

Edwards has revealed she and Nelson “don’t talk, and haven’t done for a long time,” adding: “It’s really sad, it’s heartbreaking.”

“But sometimes these things happen and people decide they want to part ways, and that’s absolutely fine,” she continued. “I would rather it went differently, but you can’t control how things go.’”

Edwards went on to say that being in the award-winning girl group was “the happiest time of my life”, adding: “All we did was laugh together, banter together, cry together.

“It was so much fun. Yes we went through a lot in those 10 years, but we had each other.”

Since leaving Little Mix, Nelson announced she was pregnant with twins in January 2025. Two months later, she shared she had to have an emergency procedure after a warning that her babies “could die”. The operation was a success, and her daughters were born in May 2025.

In January 2026, Nelson learned her twins had a rare muscular condition called spinal muscle atrophy, adding that they will “probably never walk”.

According to the charity SMA UK, an estimated 47 babies were born with the condition in the UK in 2024, although roughly one in 40 people carry the gene that can cause the disease.

In a social media post, Nelson explained that “it does affect every muscle in the body, down to legs, arms, breathing, swallowing.

She added that doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital informed her that the girls were “probably never going to be able to walk. They probably will never regain their neck strength, so they will be disabled.”

Nelson went on to say that she wanted to share the diagnosis so that it might help others in a similar situation, and said that she believed her daughters would “defy all the odds” and that they “will fight this”.

Elsewhere, Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson has appealed for help after a car containing her daughters’ medical equipment was stolen.

lowkey okay but like why do so many ai demos show it writing resumes or scheduling meetings?? who is out here thinking "wow my life is incomplete without ai doing this for me" LMAO. like yeah sure it could save some time but is that really the pinnacle of what this tech can do? feels like theyre trying to sell us on stuff we dont even want. also why is it always the same examples, cant they think of something slightly more interesting. like, idk maybe im just cynical but it all feels so... uninspired. also whats with the overly polished mockups where everything works perfectly and no one ever has tech issues? we all know real life is way messier than that. cant they show something vaguely realistic for once? nope, hard pass on these demos til they get more creative.

People can do all manner of stuff when they are really angry. It could be anything, but my advice is that no matter what anyone is doing, it is necessary that they don't make moves that they would regret later.

For you, how do you get to handle being really angry?

i was up way too late last night trying to nail this one riff and it hit me how some chords just feel so *nocturnal* while others are just... morning energy, yknow?? idk if its the mood im in or if its something about the sound itself but its wild!! maybe its the lighting in the room or the fact that im listening through headphones half asleep but i cant help thinking some tracks would hit different if you only played em during their ~time~... like imagine a whole playlist calibrated to the hour of the day. actually that might be a fun experiment?? also side note does anyone know any tracks that feel super *dawn-ish* cause im drawing a blank rn and itd be cool to have examples. unless thats just me being weird again lol...

How close are you to your siblings? Are you the type who is always reaching out to them at all times? How have you been handling certain situations that relate to them and the challenges that they face?

like i get wanting to be creative or quirky but why is it always stuff like ‘golden hour vibes’ or ‘rainy day chill’ when half the songs are just midtempo synthwave or whatever cant we just call it what it is. also why are there so many sunset themed playlists that have zero sunset-appropriate songs. im pretty sure ‘bittersweet symphony’ was not written about watching the sun go down. rant over.

like i get it, it’s catchy, but sometimes it feels lazy?? like you’ve got three minutes to tell me something and instead i’m hearing "baby" or "yeah" for half the song like, on the other hand sometimes it works so well it’s kinda genius (thinking of that one track from midnight glimmers that just says "glow" for ages but it totally fits the vibe they’re so underrated btw if you havent heard their stuff yet you gotta check out their 2024 album it’s like being inside a neon sunset) anyway it makes me wonder if songs like that are more about mood than meaning... or if it’s just bc people remember stuff better when it’s simple?? idk maybe i’m overthinking tbqh i cant even say i hate it bc some of those tracks end up stuck in my head all day!!! also completely unrelated but did yall see that thing about how jupiter’s great red spot is actually shrinking??? wild how even giant planets change over time, makes you think about how everything’s kinda fleeting ok rant over lmao carry on!!

like you know the one — starts all minor and moody then BAM big major lift halfway through. dont get me wrong, its effective as hell and i still fall for it sometimes, but its so overdone it feels like every newbie producer learned it on day 1 and never let go i get wanting to make people feel something but its like... hey maybe try a different trick once in a while? theres a whole keyboard out there honestly im not saying ban it or anything (its still a banger when done right) but it kinda feels like the musical equivalent of using paprika on everything because you heard its a spice. anyway rant over, whats your most overplayed edm trope?

you know that vibe when youre shuffling through racks of old sweaters and chipped mugs and everything smells faintly of wood polish and mothballs? theres something about that feeling — nostalgic but not too heavy, kinda comforting but also like youre in this weird limbo where time doesnt matter. i feel like theres a whole genre of songs like that but i cant quite pin it down. maybe something acoustic? or with light synth that doesnt overpower? idk man, it just feels like the kind of music youd hear faintly over speakers while you debate whether to buy a ceramic frog or not. examples welcome. lowkey also if youve got a thrift store story, drop it, my last find was a cookbook from 1973 with recipes for "space-age jello salads" so clearly im doing something right.

like, it's like every week there’s another limited vinyl pressing of some band that had one semi-hit in 1983 and then vanished into obscurity. i get that nostalgia sells but who’s actually buying this stuff? is it just middle-aged dudes trying to relive their college radio days or what? dont get me wrong, some of it’s decent, but it feels like theyre scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point. like, how many more post-punk b-sides collections do we need? ...
