The new Pavarotti football shirt for 2026

Decca Classics has launched two new official Pavarotti football shirts ahead of the 2026 World Cup – check out images of the shirts below.

The shirts will celebrate “the enduring connection between one of the greatest voices of all time, football and ‘Nessun Dorma’”, according to a statement – referring to the song made famous by Pavarotti in the summer World Cup season of 1990 for ‘Italia ’90’.

The shirt is said to be “inspired by the life, passions and cultural legacy of the world’s most beloved tenor” in what would have been his 90th year. The famous Tenor passed away in 2007, aged 71.

A statement added: “The limited-edition football shirt collection pays homage to the unique relationship between Luciano Pavarotti, football, and the aria that became the soundtrack to a generation during the summer of 1990: ‘Nessun Dorma’ from Puccini’s opera, Turandot.”

It continued: “Long before he became the world’s most famous tenor, Pavarotti was an enthusiastic footballer and played regularly as a young man in Modena. Throughout his life he remained a passionate supporter of the game and forged lasting friendships across the football world.”

Pavarotti’s widow, Nicoletta Mantovani, said of her late husband: “Luciano was a man of huge passions, and football was definitely right at the top of the list. As a kid, he lived and breathed the game on the pitch, playing as a goalkeeper for a local team.

“Later, his incredible performance of ‘Nessun Dorma’ became way more than just a World Cup soundtrack; it turned into the ultimate anthem for anyone tackling a challenge with courage and heart. It’s a timeless reminder that, no matter what field you’re playing on, the goal is always the same: Vincerò, vincerò, vincerò!”

There are two shirts available now from the store here. One, ‘The Hawaiian Shirt’, has been made in homage to the fact Pavarotti was known for his colourful wardrobe and was rarely seen without one of his beloved Hawaiian shirts.

Bold red and blue tropical florals cover the shirt, “capturing the exuberance, warmth and joy that defined both the man and his performances,” a statement added.

Across the chest of the shirt is the word “Vincerò” (“I will win”), the closing line from ‘Nessun Dorma’. The number 90 appears on the reverse too, commemorating both Italia ’90, the FIFA World Cup and marking Pavarotti’s 90th year.

The second shirt, ‘The Modena’, pays tribute to Pavarotti’s hometown of Modena and the club he supported throughout his life.

Seen in deep blue with vibrant yellow detailing, the shirt draws inspiration from the colours associated with the city and features a repeating silhouette motif inspired by Pavarotti’s iconic stage presence.

In other music-related World Cup news, Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds have announced a 30th anniversary re-release of ‘Three Lions’, as England head into another World Cup this summer, and John Barnes has revealed the audio clips from 1990, showing Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne and Peter Beardsley attempting his iconic rap for ‘World in Motion’.

Belle & Sebastian have also shared a buoyant 2026 Scotland World Cup anthem ‘It Only Takes One Lion’, and frontman Stuart Murdoch told NME about his hopes for the team.

Last week (June 4), the official soundtrack album for the 2026 FIFA World Cup was announced, featuring The Rolling Stones, Shakira, Stormzy and more. Check out the full list here.

The full tracklist brings together a collection of huge artists, genres and cultures from around the world. It looks to reflect the diversity, energy and scale of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Among the songs featured on the 18-song tracklist are opening tracks ‘Goals’ by LISA, Anitta and Rema, ‘Game Time’ by Future and Tyla, and ‘Illuminate’ Jessie Reyez and Elyanna. A remix of Rolling Stones’ ‘In The Stars’ is also featured, as is Stormzy, Fridayy and Angel’s ‘Blessings’, Ayra Starr and Latto’s ‘Show Me’, and Shakira and Burna Boy’s ‘Dai Dai’.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup begins this Thursday (June 11), and the opening match will see co-hosts Mexico vs South Africa go head to head at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

I wonder how pet lovers actually make the decision to choose what they want to go for. It was not an easy decision for me trying to choose between a cat and a dog.
I like cats because they require less care, but I also like dogs because of how close they can get to me.

I eventually got a dog.
Which one would you go for?

like ‘vaporwave nomad’ or ‘neon horizon’ or whatever. i get it, you want to stand out, but it feels like theyre all pulling from the same hat of edgy buzzwords. whats wrong with just being ‘steve’ or something normal. anyway i dont even know if this is a real complaint or if im just annoyed because i saw a flyer for a show with a dj called ‘quantum drift’ and it made me roll my eyes so hard i almost sprained something.

ngl idk if its the reverb or the lyrics but it hits different. like that one track by *silver wave revival* (anyone else listen to them?? theyre so underrated) where the chorus just screams “we’re sinking slow” over and over... i cant help but think of tidal waves and rogue planets crashing into earth... maybe its just me being dramatic but i love how rock can tap into that weird mix of anger and melancholy and scale?? like the music is somehow both personal and cosmic at the same time. (side note: did yall know a lot of early alt bands were inspired by the voyager golden record?? theres this whole backstory about how they wanted their music to feel like messages to the universe lol)

anyway whats a song that makes you feel like youre part of something bigger than yourself??

like yeah the waves and seagulls are nice or whatever but have these people never seen a storm? or sharks? or literally any documentary about how deep and terrifying teh ocean is? it's not some chill vacation spot, it's where things go to get eaten or lost forever. like, maybe i just think too much about this but it bugs me. also dont even get me started on songs that use whale sounds, thats a whole other rant

like seriously, its everywhere!! classic rock, indie, metal, even pop... like, i get it, the moon is cool and mysterious and all, but theres only so many ways you can sing about it before it starts to feel overdone, ya know? its not even that im sick of it, its just kinda funny how obsessed everyone is also, have yall ever thought about how most moon songs are either super romantic or super melancholy?? like where are the upbeat moon jams?? we need more of those. also random astronomy fact (cause im like that sometimes): did you know the moon is slowly drifting away from earth at like 3.8 cm per year??? which means in a few billion years well have way fewer moon songs cause itll be too far to inspire anyone. unless we get songs about drifting away instead i guess. side note: has anyone listened to that band lunar seas? theyve got this one track called orbit blues that kinda riffs on this idea but in a weird synth-punk way. idk if theyre any good but its on my spotify... maybe ill dig it out later if anyone’s curious anyway, im rambling... what do yall think? is the moon overplayed or is it just me being extra today??

I am not a tech savvy person and I do not have enough knowledge about PCs. I might buy a PC in the future, as I do not have enough budget to buy a PC right now. Buying a PC is not an easy thing to do at all. If you do not have proper knowledge about computers, you may end up buying a PC that does not work properly. This is specifically true when you are buying a secondhand PC.

like not in a summer vibes way but in this weird way where it feels like the track is radiating heat or something? idk if its just me but some of those big room drops or even some really uplifting trance tracks make me think of staring diretly at the sun (not that i do that dont worry i know its bad for your eyes lmao)

and not just because of the energy but theres this... brightness?? to them? like some of the synths hit in a way that feels warm and kind of blinding at the same time

maybe its just all the solar imagery in track art and music vids but i cant be the only one whos thought this right?? also side note does anyone else know that one song by [band name i cant remember] that has a lyric about the sun being a 'hungry eye'?? it always stuck with me for some reason

its like every site wants to look edgy or something but honestly its just harder to read sometimes i get that its supposed to save battery on oled screens and all that but if im squinting to see text at 2pm then whats the point. also why is there always some tiny setting buried in a menu to switch it back instead of just asking when you first visit. half the time it feels like theyre trying to force a 'mood' instead of just letting people read their content.
