Brenda Lee Decades Vol. 1

Brenda Lee‘s robust, decades-spanning back catalog is finally making its way to streaming platforms this year. More than a dozen albums are set to arrive on DSPs over the coming months for the very first time.

The rollout launches today with Decades Vol. 1 — a four-album collection featuring Too Many Rivers (1965), New Sunrise (1973), L.A. Sessions (1976), and Even Better (1980). The installment traces Lee’s artistic evolution across three decades, from her transition into the sophisticated Nashville Sound of the mid-’60s through the ‘70s reinvention that led to her triumphant comeback in the country space in the early ’80s.

“I’m thrilled that these albums are going to be available for streaming,” Lee said in a statement. “Listening through these albums, which span three decades of my career, has brought back so many memories. I hope that my fans are able to relive these memories with me while allowing a new generation of fans to discover these gems for the first time.”

While casual listeners may know Lee best for holiday favorite “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and the 1960 ballad “I’m Sorry,” a treasure trove of deeper-cut classics lies where those came from. She earned 47 U.S. chart hits during the 1960s alone, ranking behind only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Ray Charles for the decade. She is also the first woman to be inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Country Music Halls of Fame, with more than 100 million records sold worldwide.

The four albums in Decades Vol. 1 each represent a distinct chapter in Lee’s life and career. Too Many Rivers, produced by longtime collaborator Owen Bradley, yielded a crossover hit that reached No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. New Sunrise spawned two country Top 10 singles. Even Better, meanwhile, delivered Lee’s first country Top 10 hits in several years, including “Tell Me What It’s Like” and “The Cowgirl and the Dandy.”Additional albums from Lee’s catalog are expected to follow throughout the year.

No skips. No filler tracks. Every song belongs.

What's one rock, punk, metal, or alternative album you can listen to straight through without touching the skip button?

like my cat will nap all day and then decide 3 am is the perfect time to zoom around the house yelling at nothing... meanwhile my dog somehow knows exactly when i’m about to wake up and stares at me until i open my eyes lowkey its so weird how they just know things!! also does anyone else notice how their pets sleeping positions are so dramatic??? my cat will sprawl out like she owns the place and the dog curls into a tiny ball like hes trying to disappear... why do they do that?? ok tangent but have yall heard about how some animals sleep with half their brain awake?? like dolphins do this so they can still swim and breathe while resting... imagine if humans could do that... like, id probably still forget to set my alarm tho lol

I can say that most people now are making use of one streaming service or another to watch their favorite movies and TV shows including music too. Netflix and Spotify are my favourite which I've been using for years.

What's your favorite streaming service?

ok so i know there are a TON of songs about the ocean and summer and sunset drives but what about **stargazing**?? like actual songs where its just about sitting outside late at night and watching the sky?? i feel like theres this whole mood that gets overlooked. weve got 'starry starry night' but thats more about van gogh than the actual stars. idk man i want some tunes for when youre out in the middle of nowhere and its just YOU and the universe. feel free to drop recs if youve got em also not tryna be cheesy here but if youve ever seen the milky way for real with no light pollution lemme know where bc ive only seen it once and it was WILD. anyway yeah songs about stars. go.

Re-watching movies isn't my thing but I can make an exception if the movie is very good. The only movie I've rewatched recently is Avengers : Infinity Wars. It's the best Marvels movies.

Do you like re-watching movies?

Since the pandemic of COVID, I started taking my hygiene really very serious. I wash my hands as often as possible and keep my hand sanitizers close by. My health is a big priority I don't joke with.

Do you wash your hands regularly?

seriously, who even uses these? theyre always stiff, unreliable, or just get in the way when youre trying to scroll normally. i get that some mice have them as a 'feature' but its such a niche use case and doesnt justify the annoyance every time i see someone claim its a must-have im like... for what? spreadsheets? even then ctrl+arrow keys are faster. the only thing worse is when they try to map them to volume or browser back/forward and it just misfires half the time. if youre modding a mouse and considering keeping the tilt, just... dont. youll thank yourself later. anyone else rip these out of their mice or am i the only one who thinks theyre more trouble than theyre worth?

Everyone talks about Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, and Dimebag Darrell.

Who's a guitarist that deserves way more recognition than they get?

Bonus points if you drop a song recommendation.
