Between our daily coverage, our Notable Releases and Indie Basement columns, and our monthly punk and rap roundups, we post tons of new music all the time here on BrooklynVegan. In an effort to keep track of all the new music we’re excited about, we’ve been posting a new playlist each week with many of the songs we love that were (mostly) released that week.

This week’s playlist includes new music by Boards of Canada, Iceage, Hew, Kristin Hersh, knitting, Wild Pink, Blood Orange, Starcleaner Reunion, Guided by Voices, The Bug Club, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Gilla Band, Doublespeak, Gold Panda, Kneecap (ft Killer Mike), Wet Leg, Cornelius (ft Sean Ono Lennon), and TVOD.

Subscribe to the playlist and/or listen below…

like seriously, why is it *always* right before a long trip or when you’re in the middle of bingeing something. i swear they know had a pair snap literally as i was packing for a flight last month and ended up stuck using those awful plane earbuds that feel like they’re trying to burrow into your brain. rip to the pair i had since 2019 too, those things were tanks until they just…werent anyone else feel like teh more expensive the headphones, the more dramatic the death? cheaper ones just slowly fuzz out or one side dies but the pricier ones go out in a blaze of “left earcup detaches mid-call and you sound like you’re in a wind tunnel.”

idk man maybe i just need to stop yanking the cord like it owes me money.

like i get it, you want to show the energy of the crowd but somehow it’s always during the best part of the guitar solo or right when the drum fill kicks in and you’re sitting there thinking “wait what did i just miss” because the camera’s too busy panning over some rando screaming into their friend’s ear. why cant they just stick to the stage for 10 uninterrupted seconds. its not that hard. also whats with the obsession with slow motion crowd shots. honestly nobody needs to see someone’s beer spill in 0.25x speed while the bassline is thumping in the background, thats not ‘artistic’ its just annoying. ...idk maybe im overthinking it but it feels like theyre trying too hard to make live shows seem more “epic” when really just showing the band play would do that fine on its own.

lowkey okay but like why do so many ai demos show it writing resumes or scheduling meetings?? who is out here thinking "wow my life is incomplete without ai doing this for me" LMAO. like yeah sure it could save some time but is that really the pinnacle of what this tech can do? feels like theyre trying to sell us on stuff we dont even want. also why is it always the same examples, cant they think of something slightly more interesting. like, idk maybe im just cynical but it all feels so... uninspired. also whats with the overly polished mockups where everything works perfectly and no one ever has tech issues? we all know real life is way messier than that. cant they show something vaguely realistic for once? nope, hard pass on these demos til they get more creative.

so i’ve been getting into astrophotography lately (yeah yeah i know, yet another hobby...) and im realizing my poor little 1650 cant handle the stellarium plugins and image stacking software i want to run... it feels like im trying to launch a space shuttle with a tricycle engine!! anyway i was thinking about upgrading but idk where to start... do i need something beefy like a 4080 or would a 3060 do the trick for hobby stuff?? like, i dont need it for gaming or anything fancy just... planets and nebulae lol. i keep reading mixed stuff about cuda cores and opencl support and now my brain is scrambled also random but did yall know the james webb telescope can detect water vapor on exoplanets??!!! like what the heck!!! imagine being the first person to see that data pop up. im lowkey jealous of astronomers sometimes. any suggestions or just general space nerd chatter welcome...

like yeah its bloated and the plugins can be a mess but for non-devs or small businesses its a lifesaver i get that its not 'pure' or whatever but its accessible and thats valuable theres a reason its still around after all these years. also idk why people act like using it is some kind of failure when half the internet runs on it sure if youre building something custom from scratch its overkill but for most use cases its fine. hate the complexity all you want but its not like theres a perfect alternative that does everything wp can without similar tradeoffs. (also side note if youre modding your mechanical keyboard and need switch films recommendations holler idc if this is off topic)

like yeah sure it’s cool you can turn off your lights with your phone but then the app glitches or the wifi goes out and suddenly you’re standing in the dark yelling at a bulb like it’s gonna listen... or the thermostat decides it knows better than you what temperature you want and ignores your settings entirely. plus half the time they stop working after two updates and youre stuck with a $200 paperweight. i get wanting convenience but at what cost honestly. seems like we traded simple switches for more headaches dont even get me started on the privacy concerns 🤦

seriously why is it so hard to find up-to-date guides for basic stuff like sql joins or setting up a jupyter notebook. ngl every time i google something half teh top results are outdated stack overflow posts or youtube vids with terrible resolution and a narrator who sounds like they're reading from a script written by chatgpt's great-grandparent. like i get that tech moves fast but if youre making a tutorial at least check if the library you're demoing got deprecated two years ago. and dont even get me started on the ones that link to broken github repos. just say 'this is how you do x in 2026' and save us all the headache of digging through ancient threads. anyone else run into this or is it just me being impatient?

you know that vibe when youre shuffling through racks of old sweaters and chipped mugs and everything smells faintly of wood polish and mothballs? theres something about that feeling — nostalgic but not too heavy, kinda comforting but also like youre in this weird limbo where time doesnt matter. i feel like theres a whole genre of songs like that but i cant quite pin it down. maybe something acoustic? or with light synth that doesnt overpower? idk man, it just feels like the kind of music youd hear faintly over speakers while you debate whether to buy a ceramic frog or not. examples welcome. lowkey also if youve got a thrift store story, drop it, my last find was a cookbook from 1973 with recipes for "space-age jello salads" so clearly im doing something right.

How close are you to your siblings? Are you the type who is always reaching out to them at all times? How have you been handling certain situations that relate to them and the challenges that they face?
