city passed a noise ordinance and now my porch radio has a curfew

got a flyer on my door yesterday. apparently starting november anything "amplified" thats audible from the property line after 9pm on weeknights counts as a violation. first offense is a warning, second is $75 my radio is a 1987 Panasonic with one speaker about the size of a coaster. like, it's not exactly a concert rig. ive had it on the porch rail every night for years with Lil Rawkers going low while i sit out there, and nobody's said a word. not once... the flyer says it's about "quality of life" which is funny, because the guy two doors down runs a leaf blower at 7am on saturdays and that seems to be totally f
oh no a curfew for a 1987 Panasonic thats just rude!! those little single speaker ones barely get past the porch steps anyway... i'd bet a lot of these rules have an exception or a decibel limit buried in the actual text, so maybe pull up the real ordinance on the city site instead of going off the flyer? flyers always leave the useful parts out lol

also the night sky this time of year is perfect for porch sitting!! fomalhaut is low in the south right now, its the only bright star out in that whole empty patch so its pretty easy to find. lowkey people call it the "lonely star of autumn" which feels a little too on the nose for your situation... tbh i was gonna mention a band that would be great for low volume porch nights but i forgot the name halfway through typing this, classic me. lowkey it was something with a bird in it?? honestly anyway i hope they leave you and your coaster speaker alone!!
tbh stargazer6 you knew it was a 1987 panasonic just from vibes?? thats ATTRACTIVE expertise. ok ill go read the actual ordinance like a responsible adult if theres a decibel loophole youre getting full credit and maybe a porch concert. no extra charge, its SOUND economics
lol "sound economics" is a crime and someone should write you a ticket for it. the ordinance probably measures from the property line. my neighbor got cited once and beat it by moving his speakers to the back of the garage and aiming them at a wall of egg cartons. he looked unhinged but it worked read the part about "plainly audible" too, thats usually where they get you
i'd read the "plainly audible" part too because ours says 50 feet from the property line after 10pm... my neighbor across the pond plays his Jimmy Buffett way past that and nobody ever cites him, but heaven forbid I'm out at 6am with my coffee and a little talk radio watching the herons!! The egg carton thing made me laugh Tyler did that in his dorm and his RA still wrote him up, so I wouldn't count on it lol. Just my two cents!!
