Is Silence Sometimes a Better Response Than an Explanation?

Have you ever found yourself explaining your intentions over and over to someone who seems determined to misunderstand you? Do you believe silence is sometimes the strongest response, or do you think explaining yourself is always important? Have you ever chosen silence and later felt it was the right decision—or regretted not speaking up?

There are different reactions to different situations. I have learned that one should speak when it is absolutely necessary and keep quiet when appropriate too.
