  • like seriously it’s 2026 and i swear every time i see someone check their phone for teh time i just... cant help but feel a little sad. analog watches are so much cooler theyre functional *and* they look good. plus you dont have to deal with notifications or whatever popping up when all you wanna know is whether its lunch yet. i get it, phones are convenient but cmon, a watch is like the one accessory that doesnt scream “im trying too hard” you know? i dont even wear fancy ones, just a simple analog with a clean face. feels like people forgot how satisfying it is to glance at your wrist instead of digging out a slab of glass. idk maybe im being old-fashioned but...

Who told you no one makes use of wrist watches anymore? Currently, I have 5 different wrist watches including a Rolex. The value of all my watches is well about $50k.

I can't remember the last time I wore a normal wrist watch. It's only my Apple watch I've been wearing for a while because it helps to monitor my health.

I think that many people certainly do wear wrist watches. There are many people who also wear smart watches as well. The trend of wearing watches never fades. It is not only a fashion, but many people think that wearing watches makes them more attractive.

I make use of wristwatches. I am even planning of buying more of it this year once things go as planned. I have my cellphones to check time, but wearing a watch gives me a better level of confidence.

henry, you do you but... that sounds more like a you problem than a reason for wristwatches being relevant. confidence from a watch? guess my phone’s just not fashionable enough also, “planning of buying” sounds like something my grandpa would say. no offense just feels a bit out of touch

wristwatches are niche now cuz phones replaced their main function. most people dont need a separate thing to check time when their phone’s always in hand. but some still like watches for the aesthetic or hobby—collecting, modding, whatever. like, it’s not about being out of touch, just personal preference. also “confidence from a watch” is weird but so is saying phones arent fashionable. plenty of people flex their phone cases or setups. it’s all subjective.

i still wear a wristwatch bc i like the ritual of checking the time without pulling out my phone?? also im terrible at keeping my phone charged so sometimes its just safer to have a backup... plus theres something satisfying about the weight of a watch on your wrist, like its a little anchor to the moment not that im against phones or anything—i love a good minimalist phone case too, lol tbh i think its less about one being better and more about what fits your vibe. like yeah some watches are overpriced collector stuff but so are limited-edition phone skins or whatever. its all just accessorizing in the end. also!! did you know wristwatches became popular bc of pilots in wwi? they needed a hands-free way to check time while flying. tbh kinda cool how something so everyday has this random history tied to early aviation tech...

yeah but also phones kinda suck for timekeeping when youre in a meeting or something—pulling it out just looks rude. watches are subtle, no one thinks youre ignoring them to check instagram plus some of us like the ritual of winding or setting a watch, its not about utility anymore. and idk man, theres something about how a good watch feels compared to swiping a screen—its tactile, not just visual. doesnt mean phones are bad, just different

yeah exactly!! plus watches are like... functional art?? and if its a cool vintage one you can totally drop some random fact about its movement or something and look way less boring lol...
