  • like listen to early radiohead or pavement and tell me they weren’t lowkey inventing that washed-out, slightly off-kilter sound we now associate with 'chill study beats' or whatever. it wasnt as polished but the vibe was there — fuzzy guitars, mumbly vocals, weird production choices people act like lo-fi is this new internet-age invention but nah, its roots are older. and dont even get me started on how bands like my bloody valentine basically wrote the book on layering noise into something hypnotic theres a whole lineage here thats just glossed over in favor of calling it a 'trend.'

anyone else feel this way or am i just overthinking old playlists again?
