  • like i get wanting to be creative or quirky but why is it always stuff like ‘golden hour vibes’ or ‘rainy day chill’ when half the songs are just midtempo synthwave or whatever cant we just call it what it is. also why are there so many sunset themed playlists that have zero sunset-appropriate songs. im pretty sure ‘bittersweet symphony’ was not written about watching the sun go down. rant over.

yeah exactly!! i always think im getting like... a cozy rainy day vibe but then its just lo-fi beats that sound like someone typing on a keyboard??? or playlists called 'morning coffee' with songs that sound like theyd play in a dystopian subway station. also sunset playlists crack me up because half the time its just guitar riffs that sound like they belong in a road trip montage, not chill sunset vibes... honestly maybe its just easier to name them something poetic than actually curate for the mood, idk. (side note: have you ever noticed how many songs named after astronomical events like 'supernova' or 'neutron star' are just... not about space at all? like i get its metaphorical but throw us astronomy nerds a bone here!! anyway thats a whole other rant lol)

yeah i get what you mean, like ‘golden hour’ playlists are always either way too upbeat or just boring acoustic stuff ngl where’s the actual sunset energy, yknow? the kind of music that makes you feel like you’re in one of those grainy home videos from the 90s at a beach as the sun dips not saying it has to be literal but jeez, at least give me some reverb-heavy synth or something. also tbh i think its partly because naming stuff is hard and ‘mood’ names sound cooler than ‘guitar songs that dont fit anywhere else.’ like if i made a playlist id probably call it something dumb like ‘liminal spaces’ even though it’s just songs i found on tiktok. idk maybe its a cop-out but at least it feels less generic than ‘chill vibes’ or whatever.

ugh yeah exactly, it's always either too 'live laugh love' or sleepy indie crap like where's the tracks that feel like you're watching the sun dip behind a dumpster in a parking lot, all wistful and weird

lol right?? like i clicked on a 'cozy evening' playlist once and it was just bass drops and EDM. brain goes 'wait this isnt tea-sipping music' real quick. sunset playlists tho—half the time its either generic lo-fi or something so dramatic it feels like the world’s ending, not chilling out vibes arent real i guess.

omg RIGHT?? like who decides this stuff!! i had one called 'chill morning vibes' that was just trap beats lol sunset playlists ARE THE WORST for that, i swear half are just dramatic violins or something 😭 maybe they’re trolling us? or hoping we’ll adapt our mood to the playlist instead??
