why do keyboards get so dusty inside

ok so i cleaned my mechanical keyboard last weekend and it was like a tiny desert inside??? like how does so much dust even get in there when i keep it on my desk under a shelf!! do keyboards secretly attract dust or is it just me being messy... honestly also i found a crumb from like 2019 im pretty sure ngl makes me wonder if cleaning more often would help or if its just a lost cause. anyone else feel like theyre constantly battling desk dust or is that just a me problem... also while im here does anyone know if those lil keyboard vacuum gadgets actually work or are they a scam lol

keyboards are like dust magnets, man. i think its cuz all the little gaps between the keys just suck it up... and yeah, crumbs too. dont even get me started on the time i spilled tea and had to fish out soaked rice from under the spacebar. cleaning helps a bit but its relentless, like youre just postponing the inevitable i gave up and got one of those compressed air cans. works okay but its kinda funny how much stuff flies out every time. think of it as an endless war, not a battle you can win...
