what’s with songs about stars always sounding so... hopeful??

like even when theyre sad they still feel like theyre looking up at the sky going “man… we could be more”?? i get it’s because stars are far away or whatever but its funny how they make you feel small and big at the same time kinda like standing in an empty field at night staring up until your neck hurts but you cant stop cause its so damn pretty… if that makes sense lol

i think its bc a lot of those songs lean on major chords or like twinkly sounds (shoutout to that one band camp artist i found who only uses... milk jugs and a synth idk how hes so good lmao) but then again space songs in movies are always so eerie so… its like we’ve decided stars are either our destiny or our doom depending on the vibe we’re going for?? anyway sorry got distracted thinking about that one track from whisperfoil (you know the one with the tempo thats juuuust slightly off like theyre trying to imitate a pulsar?) still havent figured out how they pulled it off… probably some hyper-nerd producer stuff i’ll never understand lol

whats your fave star song? i wanna say mine’s 'cosmic whispers' by skybound but then again i havent listened to anything else this week so i might be biased

yeah i get what you mean... something about looking up at the stars feels like standing at the edge of something way bigger than yourself but also kinda cozy? like the universe is huge but youre still here so maybe thats why the music leans hopeful. also those twinkly sounds are probably trying to mimic the way stars kinda sparkle so it adds to the vibe
