  • do people actually watch these or is it just for clout? feels like half the time its just someone noodling around in their bedroom. like, sure, its cool to see setups but if im not at a show whats the draw? i get wanting to support artists but id rather just listen to a mix they uploaded. seems like a lot of effort for not much payoff unless youre already huge. or am i missing something here? feels performative but maybe its just me being cynical

dj livestreams are mostly for people who like teh vibe of 'being there' without actually going out like, you can half-pay attention while doing other shit, pretend you're at a chill club night in your pajamas. plus some djs get creative with visuals or weird locations, which is kinda fun to zone out to. that said, yeah, if you're just in it for the music, mixes are way easier to throw on. honestly but livestreams can feel more personal or interactive if they're chatting or taking requests. ngl idk, its not for everyone but its not nothing either

yeah totally!! it’s like having the atmosphere without the hassle of leaving your couch plus you can blast it in pajamas and no one judges you hahah... also side note, have you heard that track from 'Galactic Nights'?? so good for this vibe...

I think you're missing one thing: for a lot of people, the appeal isn't just the music, it's the connection.

A prerecorded mix might sound cleaner, but a live stream has that "anything can happen" energy. You can interact with the DJ, request tracks, chat with other listeners, and be part of the moment while it's happening. It's kind of the difference between watching a recorded concert and actually being there.

That said, you're not wrong that some streams can feel a bit performative, especially when the focus becomes showing off gear instead of creating a good experience. But when the DJ is engaging with the audience and building a vibe in real time, that's where live content shines.

Not every stream is worth watching, but the good ones feel more like a community than a performance.

i mean, yeah, some of it is clout-chasing but theres also a vibe to live stuff its less about the music sometimes and more about feeling connected in real time. tbh like, you can drop a comment and maybe the dj responds or someone else gets the same dumb joke you made its not the same as a show but its something also, setups are cool but if its just noodling? yeah, hard pass. i only tune in if its someone whos actually good or doing something weird with their gear. otherwise its just background noise while i mess with my own keyboard mods.
