what’s the deal with all these songs about driving into the sunset

lowkey okay so i get it, the imagery is cool open road, freedom, that kind of thing. but like... has anyone else noticed how every other song on the radio lately is about this exact same vibe? it’s not even summer anymore, and yet here we are. it’s starting to feel a little overdone, right? i mean sure, the idea of just driving off into the sunset sounds great in theory, but lets be real — most of us are stuck in traffic or running errands, not out there living some cinematic moment. idk, maybe im just salty because the last time i tried to ‘chase the sunset’ i got caught in construction and missed it entirely. anyway, not trying to complain (too much), but can we get some variety? like... songs about parallel parking or something just for a change.

huh, i never thought about it like that i kinda like those songs though?? like theyre not about actually driving off, more about the *feeling* of wanting escape or freedom, ya know? tbh plus they remind me of that one band (cant remember their name, ugh) with the song about highways and stars... anyway, overdone? maybe. but i think its cuz the image is so universal. lowkey like even if youre stuck in traffic, you can still daydream about rolling down the windows and pretend youre in a movie for a sec. or maybe im just too much of a dreamer
