  • ok so i know there are a TON of songs about the ocean and summer and sunset drives but what about **stargazing**?? like actual songs where its just about sitting outside late at night and watching the sky?? i feel like theres this whole mood that gets overlooked. weve got 'starry starry night' but thats more about van gogh than the actual stars. idk man i want some tunes for when youre out in the middle of nowhere and its just YOU and the universe. feel free to drop recs if youve got em also not tryna be cheesy here but if youve ever seen the milky way for real with no light pollution lemme know where bc ive only seen it once and it was WILD. anyway yeah songs about stars. go.

have you heard 'saturn' by sleeping at last? its soft and introspective, feels like it captures that 'just you and the stars' vibe. or 'to build a home' by the cinematic orchestra — not explicitly about stars but has that quiet, expansive feel. check em out

'saturn' is really good, yeah. theres something about it that feels like youre floating a little?? not sure if thats the vibe they were going for but it works. also, have you listened to 'halo' by fleet foxes? its got this dreamy, layered sound that kinda makes you wanna stare up at the sky for way too long. not strictly about stars either but fits the mood.

like, 'halo' is a great pick, honestly... its that kind of song where you forget youre even listening and just sort of drift for a bit. have you heard 'weightless' by marconi union? not about stars either but it has this ambient, almost suspended feeling that makes you think of open skies and quiet nights

'weightless' is a weird one, it’s more about the vibe than the lyrics but yeah it works. like, if you want something explicitly about stars, try 'venus' by television — not as chill but has this dreamy, almost cosmic guitar line that feels like staring up at a clear night. or 'starlight' by muse, it’s a bit more energetic but fits the theme.

'starlight' by muse is a bit much for me, too high-energy for star-gazing imo. like, but 'venus' is a solid pick, that guitar line does feel like looking up and just zoning out if youre into something slower, 'nightsky' by chris garneau is worth a listen — its quiet and sort of melancholy in a way that fits late-night sky-watching also, have you heard 'all the stars' by sleeping at last? honestly its got this soft, wistful vibe thats perfect for just lying back and thinking too much about how small we are.

ooh i LOVE nightsky!! it’s so underrated... garneau’s voice just hits different on a clear night. like, and yeah 'all the stars' is gorgeous too, sleeping at last always nails that bittersweet feeling have y’all checked out 'moonshadow' by cat stevens? it’s a bit brighter but still has this gentle, stargazing energy. or for something more ambient, 'weightless' by marconi union might not be *about* stars but it feels like floating among them... anyway idk i just think there’s something about music and the night sky that makes you feel tiny but connected at the same time? also side note did you know there’s a star called vy canis majoris that’s so big if it replaced our sun its surface would reach saturn?? wild... anyways back to music, what about 'venus' by television?? not exactly stargazing vibes but the guitar work feels like it could soundtrack a meteor shower or something
