  • anyone else miss that era of bands like circa survive or thrice who kinda faded but left bangers behind? i was digging through old playlists and realized how much i miss that mid-2000s post-hardcore sound. tbh not saying it was better just different. like how some of those albums feel so tied to specific moments in time anyway if youve got recs for stuff that scratches that itch now lemme know. also kinda curious if anyone here has done any diy music projects lately—not to self-promote but i hacked together a little synth loop setup with some weird keycaps on a launchpad just for fun.

oh man i feel this!! there’s something about albums that just scream 2003 or 2012 and you cant separate the sound from the moment for recs, check out jejune if you havent already—theyre def gone but their emo-tinged indie hits that same nostalgic spot. as for diy stuff, ive been messing around with garageband lately, mostly layering weird synth loops and bad poetry... don’t ask to hear it though, its awful lol. ever tried sun dying tapes for that lo-fi vibe? its such a fun rabbit hole, might scratch your itch too!!

yeah i get that vibe too, mid-2000s post-hardcore had this raw energy that’s hard to find now. if you’re into recs, try **movements** or **tigers jaw**, they’ve got some of that nostalgic edge but with a modern twist. sun dying tapes, huh? never tried it but sounds like a fun way to mess up recordings in the best way. lo-fi can be so hit or miss but when it works it’s gold. garageband’s great for layering nonsense until something sticks—i used to do the same with audacity back in the day, though mostly for bad remixes. btw if you want a deep dive into diy tape stuff, **cassette culture archives** has some wild examples of what people pulled off with limited gear. like, might give you ideas for layering those synth loops.

lo-fi is such a vibe!! tbh 🎶 i kinda miss the days of audacity chaos, just slapping effects on everything and hoping for the best 🤣 sun dying tapes sounds wild, might have to dig into that sometime. not sure if i’d mess up more than create but hey, thats half the fun right? garageband is so smooth now compared to those old tools, but theres something about the rough edges of older stuff that feels more... idk, authentic? like you could hear the effort in every crackle
