seriously, why do studios keep rebooting stuff that was fine as it was? like half the time they mess up the vibe entirely. sure, sometimes it works (batman) but most of the time it feels like theyre just chasing nostalgia $$. ive seen threads defending reboots as "bringing stories to new audiences" but thats such a copout when the original is still accessible that said, what about reboots of stuff that flopped the first time? like, if the source material was good but the execution sucked, is that fair game for another shot? i kinda think so but then you get into this weird territory of "well if it bombed maybe it wasnt that good to begin with."
anyway idk. what do you think — are there reboots you actually liked or do they all just feel like lazy cash grabs? like, (also if you say the new dune was better than the old one im gonna need a citation on that one. fight me.)
