So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

THE PINES OF ROME – “BRASS KNUCKLES”

Providence slowcore vets The Pines of Rome will release new album When You Are As Full As The Moon, their their first in over 20 years, on June 19 and here’s another early taste.

WIKI – “RIGHT AWAY”

Brooklyn rapper Wiki has shared another single from his upcoming album Ancient History. “Right Away” was produced by Laron.

HERMANOS GUTIÉRREZ – “CANTO ANDINO”

Very chill Swiss-Ecuadorian sibling duo Hermanos Gutiérrez have announced new album Los Ojos Del Cóndor which will be out September 25 via Easy Eye Sound. Here’s the first single.

NOUVELLE VAGUE – “ENJOY THE SILENCE” (DEPECHE MODE COVER) FT SKYE EDWARDS (MORCHEEBA) & LARRY LOVE (ALABAMA 3)

Nouvelle Vague are back with more bossa nova new wave / alt-rock covers. This version of Depeche Mode’s hit features Morcheeba’s Skye Edwards and Alabama 3’s Larry Love and was recorded in Rio with “some of Brazil’s finest musicians.”

SMIRK – “ABIDE”

Portland musician Nick Vicario leads Smirk, a band that includes members of Hotline TNT, Poison Ruin and Pardoner, who will release new album Speculative Fiction on July 3 via Smoking Room. “Abide” is a nice bit of slow-burn indie rock and the video features former BV editor Fred Pessaro as a clueless podcaster.

THE MARY WALLOPERS – “CROWNS OF ENGLAND”

Dundalk, Ireland’s The Mary Wallopers will release their new album, Paddywhackery, on September 18 via BC Records. Their first since 2023’s Irish Rock’n’Roll, the record was produced by The Coral’s James Skelly. Check out the first single.

PRINCE – “STONE”

The Prince archives may never stop giving. The latest record to be unearthed is Timeless, a compilation of previously unreleased songs from throughout his career (1977 – 2016). Here’s “Stone” which dates from 1995.

EMMA RUTH RUNDLE – “POWERLESS”

Emma Ruth Rundle has announced her sixth album, These Killing Times, which will be out September 18 via her own Errant Child label. Here’s the first single.

SEASICK STEVE – “THE LAST SEASON OF AMERICA”

Cult folk artist Seasick Steve is back with a new album, The Last Season of America, which will be out September 18 on Steve’s new label Eastcote Recordings. The album was inspired by a coast-to-coast drive Steve and his wife took in 2024 just before the election. “We drove across the country from Miami to LA,” he says. “We thought we was gonna have an amazing time but we were mostly sad, so much homelessness and division.” This is the title track.

hmm didnt see any of these on my radar but the indie stuff sounds like it might be worth checking out? last time i dove into one of those lists i found a band that was SO GOOD but then they disappeared after one album which was a bummer. metal-wise, eh, not my thing lately. used to love it back in the day but now it feels like too much effort to keep up with who’s doing what. unless its like, some crossover indie-metal hybrid which tbh sounds terrible on paper but who knows, could be fun also side note: why do we still call it ‘indie’ when half the bands are on major labels now? just feels weird. like calling a big chain coffee shop ‘local.’ idk man, semantics.
