M.I.A has spoken out about being cut from Kid Cudi‘s tour.

Cudi, real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, announced last month that he had dropped the British singer and rapper from his ongoing ‘Rebel Ragers’ Tour, saying that he was “flooded with messages from fans” who had complained about statements she’d made while opening for him during the first two shows of his tour.

M.I.A then filed a lawsuit against Cudi, suing him for for $2.8million and claiming that he knew her reputation and political stance before inviting her on the tour. She also alleged that she was told that she could say whatever she wanted on stage.

Now, M.I.A has shared more details of her side of the story on The New York TimesPopcast, in her first interview since being removed from the tour.

The singer has claimed she has never spoken to Cudi about the decision, despite making attempts to communicate with him. She said she actually found out she had been dropped from the tour through her son, who saw Cudi’s statement online.

“He didn’t even speak to me about it,” she began. “He didn’t call my management, he didn’t call me, he didn’t talk to the crew and I even made an effort to go and talk to him and he didn’t see me. Yeah, it was kind of crazy. My son is like, ‘Hey, I heard you’re not on the tour.’”

M.I.A. continued: “That’s how I found out, from a different state and my son called me from school. I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And then he sent me the post.”

The musician then went on to blame the media for running with an allegedly false narrative that she’s a Trump supporter and Republican voter.

“That’s not what’s going on. That is what the media wrote as what’s going on. That was the perception that was generated and fanned and algorithmized to cement a narrative,” she stated. “The narrative is that is a Brown woman who is an immigrant and no matter what Americans think about that, they could never remove that.”

According to reports from the time, she was booed by the crowd in Dallas after saying she had been “cancelled for many reasons”, adding: “I never thought I would be cancelled for being a brown Republican voter”. Consequence also reports that she made some comments that were interpreted by some as being about immigrants, but the singer said it was a reference to her song “ILLYGIRL.”

From there, Cudi shared a statement claiming that he agreed with M.I.A ahead of the shows that there would not be anything offensive said at the shows, and claimed that it was “very disappointing” to have to drop her from the tour.

“I won’t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase,” he said.

Soon afterwards, M.I.A took to X to respond to the decision, seemingly walking back on her comments about voting by saying that she hasn’t voted as “my team hasn’t gotten visas yet”.

M.I.A. has received backlash for a number of controversial statements in recent years. These include comparing InfoWars host Alex Jones’s falsehoods about the Sandy Hook shooting to celebrities “pushing” COVID-19 vaccines. She later clarified her stance on COVID vaccines, saying she’s “not really” an anti-vaxxer.

Ahead of the 2024 election, M.I.A. threw her weight behind Trump’s campaign, saying he would “ride America through the most challenging four years”, adding that “RFK will inherit America when God is ready to replant and rebuild it righteously”.

She released her new album ‘M.I.7’ earlier this year, and announced alongside it a new clothing range that blocks 10G – the latest in her own Ohmni clothing brand.

I think that DJs earn a good amount of money in clubs. However, becoming a DJ is not that easy. You need to have a good understanding of music. There are many people who want to become a DJ, but they end up choosing a different profession. So, have you ever thought about becoming a DJ?

There are many people who always listen to radio all the time. They are kind of addicted to listening to radio. Having said that, I am not at all a huge fan of listening to radio. So, do you listen to radio very often?

like you know the ones, where it's just someone listing off what they see around them or narrating a scene in excruciating detail. sometimes it works and feels atmospheric but other times it's like ok dude i get it, you're at a bus stop, move on i think it depends on whether the place feels like it has a vibe or if it’s just filler lyrics to pad out the song. some artists can make a gas station parking lot sound poetic but others just make me wanna skip to the chorus anyway, what do you think? tbh are these songs underrated mood setters or just lazy writing?

like i used to skip them all the time on albums cuz they felt like time wasters but now i’m in my mid-30s and some of those instrumentals are legit my favorite parts of the record. like this one album i revisited recently had this weird 2-minute guitar solo thing i always hated as a teen and now i cant stop replaying it. feels like i was too dumb to get it back then. anyone else have that experience or am i just late to the party on appreciating the quiet stuff?

Olivia Rodrigo debuted her first-ever duet at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, and it features The Cure‘s Robert Smith.

The moment came during her surprise set at the festival last night (June 6), which was announced only a few hours before she took to the stage.

Introducing the song, ‘What’s Wrong With Me’, to the crowd, Rodrigo said: “It’s really special to me for so many reasons, primarily because it’s the first song I’ve ever had a feature on.”

When Smith then appeared as the surprise guest, the audience’s reaction was immediate. “I can’t believe this song exists with the person that it exists with. I’m just so fucking over the moon,” Rodrigo said.

The track is an upbeat, breezy pop song, juxtaposed by its heartbreaking lyrics that see her trace the moment she realises her relationship is not working. “Went to the doctor and she said I was fine/But every movie that I’ve seen makes me cry/It’s like somebody put a weight on my chest,” she sings. “I should talk to a friend, but I can’t get out of bed/My head is spinning and my stomach is sick/Say I’m in love, so it’s hard to admit/I can’t eat, I can’t sleep/I think you’re what’s wrong with me.

By the end of the performance, after hugging Smith, she told the crowd, “I feel like I’m gonna cry. I can’t believe that’s a thing that happened in the real world and not just a figment of my imagination.”

Check it out below.

Rodrigo last welcomed Smith onto the stage with her during her Glastonbury 2025 headline set, where they played ‘Just Like Heaven’, as well as ‘Friday I’m In Love’, and since then, Smith has spoken about enjoying “a couple of memorable nights in the studio” with Rodrigo.

Smith opened up about his relationship with Rodrigo back in March, revealing that he became a fan after hearing her breakout single ‘Drivers License’, and went on to buy both ‘Sour’ and ‘Guts’.

“Although most of the songs on those two albums are not really ‘aimed at my demographic’, they are all so good that it is hard not to fall in love with them,” Smith said.

Rodrigo has since said she has been “diving deeper into The Cure’s discography”, and her Glastonbury duets with Smith were released as part of her ‘Live From Glastonbury 2025’ album.

Meanwhile, Smith performed his own set at Primavera with The Cure, where they kicked off their European tour with a setlist full of rarities.

Rodrigo is releasing her third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’ next Friday (June 12), a record she has described as “experimental” and full of “sad love songs”. It will include the recent singles ‘Drop Dead’ and ‘The Cure’, and will centre around the feelings of “jealousy” and “longing” that arose from her first “big girl relationship”.

See the full tracklist for the new album here.

Rodrigo has already cited The Cure, New Order, Joy Division, The White Stripes and Bikini Kill as sources of inspiration for the record, and also sparked rumours that Geese frontman Cameron Winter appears on the album after being seen at a restaurant with him.

Since confirming album three, the ‘Deja Vu’ singer has announced a massive ‘Unraveled Tour’, which includes support from Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party, Devon Again, Die Spitz, and Grace Ives.

Already, more dates have been added to the list due to high demand, including multiple nights at London’s O2. Visit here for UK tickets, here for international tickets, and find a list of shows here.

The tour is the first since the critically acclaimed ‘Guts World Tour’ which took place last year and was her biggest to date – with 95 sold-out shows and over 1.4 million fans in attendance.

so i was looking into this for my cat because vet bills are no joke but then i saw the fine print and it’s like… is this even worth it? they dont cover pre-existing stuff and half the time you still end up paying a ton out of pocket. is anyone here actually using pet insurance and finding it helpful or is it just another scam to make you feel better until something actually goes wrong? i get the idea but…
