The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson has spoken out about the controversy caused by recent comments made onstage at Tampa’s MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.

The band performed at the Florida venue on May 31 as part of their ongoing ‘Southern Hospitality tour’, and after a section of the crowd broke into chants of “U-S-A!”, Robinson hit out at the crowd.

According to TMZ, a visual of the Black Crow mascot dressed as Uncle Sam was displayed on the screen behind them. Before launching into ‘She Talks To Angels’, the frontman stopped for a moment to talk to the crowd. “Thanks for the geography lesson,” he said, before adding: “I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now.”

From there, some concertgoers were heard booing him, while some others seemingly chose to leave after his comments. “For those of you fucking booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we most assuredly are not fucking ignorant.”

Now, he’s shed light on the incident while speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock. “I think the whole thing was, of course, blown out of context so people can get clicks and people can stir up the animosity,” he said.

“But be most assured – in a week, something else will come up that stirs up the hornets’ nest.” He also cleared up another misconception about his comments, clarifying: “No matter what I ever would say or do or feel about things, there’s no way I would disrespect our veterans.

“For the people who’ve put their lives on the line and made that sacrifice and dedication, I wouldn’t do that. But I have to speak my mind. I don’t have an agenda or anything — I’m just trying to make a soulful connection with people.”

Robinson isn’t usually one to use his platform to make many political statements, although Variety highlights that he did make a subtle swipe at President Donald Trump in 2017, sharing that he was not too pleased that “Donald Trump is president, John Mayer is in The Grateful Dead, and my brother’s in a Black Crowes tribute band.”

The Black Crowes were nominated to be inducted into the 2026 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame recently, although they didn’t make the cut.

Others who didn’t make the list from the 17 nominations included New Edition, Mariah Carey, Ms Lauryn Hill, INXS, P!nk, Jeff Buckley and Shakira, but those who will join the Rock Hall this year include Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

The Atlanta rock band will be performing at the 10th anniversary edition of Madrid’s Mad Cool later this summer, and that festival will see headline slots from Pulp, Foo Fighters, Florence & The Machine, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Halo Campaign Evolved celebrates the 25th anniversary of Xbox by remaking the classic adventure and adding a selection of new missions, serving as a prequel to the original story.

But will Halo‘s beloved multiplayer modes be making a return? Here is what we know.

Halo Campaign Evolved will not have any multiplayer modes. When the game releases at the end of July, it will only contain the original campaign, remastered in Unreal Engine 5, and the new missions.

Halo Studios hasn’t made any suggestion that the game will ever see the multiplayer modes get remastered, despite how beloved the experience is. This could change, but Halo Studios is working on several projects, which could include the next Halo or a multiplayer-focused experience.

We will keep this page updated with more information about multiplayer in Halo Campaign Evolved if it is announced.

Before its shortened Saturday, the 2026 edition of Governors Ball kicked off Friday (6/5) at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Lorde, returning to the festival for the first time since 2017 (when she played a little earlier in the afternoon), closed out the night, beginning her set with the live debut of an unreleased song. She ended her set with “Ribs,” coming down offstage to sing right to fans at the barricade. Friday at Governors Ball also featured Baby Keem, Katseye, The Beths, Pierce the Veil, Turnover, The Dare, King Princess, Confidence Man, Audrey Hobert, and more. While the second day of Governors Ball 2026 wasn’t exactly a wash, severe weather cut the festival short, with a number of sets nixed, including Kali Uchis, Amyl and the Sniffers and Blood Orange, while Stray Kids and Major Lazer played earlier than they were originally scheduled. Pre-storm temperatures hit 90°, making things very sweltering.

GovBall have announced that Blood Orange has now been added to Sunday’s lineup and set times have been adjusted to accommodate:

noticed this trend lately where anything slightly chill gets called lofi even if it lacks the grainy warmth or tape hiss that defines the genre. like no, a slow piano track with reverb isnt automatically lofi just because its not a banger. feels like its more about marketing than the actual sound at this point. anyone else getting annoyed by this or is it just me being picky?

Staff at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. have started to remove all references to Donald Trump.

In December last year, the Trump-appointed board of the arts venue voted to rename the institution to the ‘Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts’, or the ‘Trump-Kennedy Center’ in short.

In May, however, a US district judge ruled that the board had no authority to make that change because the centre’s name is fixed by federal statute and can only be amended by Congress. He ordered all references to Trump’s name to be removed from the building and the official name to be restored to the Kennedy Center.

Trump reacted angrily to the order, writing on social media that he would be “working with Congress to transfer this failing institution back to them”, and added that the “radical left would rather see it DIE than have President Trump transform it into something that everyone could be proud of”.

NOW: A federal judge has ordered that Donald Trump’s name be removed from the Kennedy Center and that officials halt their plan to close the venue for two years.

This week, a memo was sent to staff at the institution directing employees to stop using Trump’s name in reference to the Kennedy Center on any formal communications or press materials. A deadline of June 12 was set to update all physical and digital signage too, with the letters in Trump’s name being removed from the exterior of the building.

Also this week, the Trump administration’s lawsuit against a jazz musician who cancelled his annual Christmas concert at the Kennedy Center in the aftermath of the name change was dismissed.

The venue’s president Richard Grenell had strongly criticised Chuck Redd’s decision and demanded $1million in damages for what he described as a “political stunt”, but on Friday (June 5), a judge ruled in Redd’s favour, citing Anti-SLAPP laws that protect defendants against meritless lawsuits and “political retribution”.

Ben Folds also wrote an open letter this week to rally support for the National Symphony Orchestra, who are based at the Kennedy Center. Folds resigned as the NSO’s artistic advisor in the light of Trump’s takeover, but has now said the orchestra “doesn’t have the luxury of time” to get back on its feet.

A string of performers have also withdrawn from the Trump-linked Freedom 250 events at the Washington State Mall’s 250th anniversary of American independence celebrations, which are scheduled to start at the end of this month.

Milli Vanilli, The Commodores, Bret Michaels, Young MC, Martina McBride and Morris Day & The Time have all pulled out, with many choosing to distance themselves once its political associations became clear.

God of War Laufey was a surprise reveal at the State of Play in June 2026, and lots of discussions have broken out about the bold new direction for the franchise.

The last two games in the franchise have made their way to PC thanks to Sony releasing many of its recent releases on the platform. But, just a few months ago, it was reported that Sony is changing that strategy and going back to PS5 exclusives. So, is God of War Laufey affected? Here is what we know.

God of War Laufey is unlikely to come to PC. Sony is moving its single-player first-party game release strategy to an exclusive model for its consoles only. Therefore, it is unlikely we will see the game hit PC, at least not at release. Sony’s strategy could change, especially as their games aren’t selling as well on PS5 as they have previously, but don’t expect God of War Laufey on the platform when it releases.

Jessie J has announced she is cancer-free, saying she “exhaled for the first time in a year” after receiving the news.

The singer revealed in June last year that she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer and she successfully underwent surgery shortly afterwards. Three months later, however, she cancelled a tour as she was scheduled for a further surgical procedure.

Last month, she posted a video on Instagram that showed her going for her annual health checkup after a breast MRI, and she captioned the post with the jubilant news: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!!”

“I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year,” she added.

Jessie also brought the positive energy to her return to the Chinese singing competition Singer, the show that she won back in 2018. The hugely popular series is watched by over 100million viewers and Jessie gave passionate performances of Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ and her own song ‘California’, from her recent album ‘Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time’.

At the end of last year, Jessie shared a personal and emotional reflection on her challenging 2025, describing it as “one of the hardest but most magical years”.

“This year has been heavy and hard in many ways for all of us, for me personally one of the hardest but most magical years of my life,” she said at the time. “Personally and professionally. But all the sadness has come up this week, it’s the first time I’ve stopped (working and being in public in months) So I’m crying a lot. Writing shit down feeling really low tbh. The lowest I have felt in a while.”

Last September, Jessie made an emotional return to the stage alongside her two-year-old son at BBC Radio 2 in the Park, just 11 weeks after undergoing surgery. “I’m still very much in the recovery process,” she said at the time. “But I’m just so grateful to be here.”

Her sixth studio album ‘Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time’ was released in November, including the singles ‘No Secrets’, ‘Living My Best Life’, ‘H.A.P.P.Y.’ and ‘I’l Never Know Why’.

She also played at the Mighty Hoopla in London last month, and is set to take the stage at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth later this summer.

Emma Ruth Rundle has announced her sixth album, These Killing Times, which will be out September 18 via her own Errant Child label. She made it with a full band and contributors include Marissa Nadler, regular collaborator Troy Zeigler, Jess Gowrie (Chelsea Wolfe, Mrs. Piss), Patrick Shiroishi, Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos), Gina Gleason (Baroness), Lukas Frank (Storefront Church) and Amelia Baker (Cinder Well).

The first single is “Powerless,” which opens the album and vacillates between gentle piano to raging rock. “This song was initially titled ‘Noam Chomsky is Dead to Me’ – as his relationship to Epstein and the billionaire class was being exposed – just another massively disappointing headline in a time where we are incessantly confronted with an onslaught of news and headlines which are endlessly demoralizing and dehumanizing,” Rundle says.

She continues: “This song – like most of the songs on These Killing Times – is a reaction to the horrors we are seeing laid bare on a daily basis – the clear and painful reality of the myriad injustices levied upon the working class people of earth – from climate collapse to genocide to the miscarriage of justice on a scale- the likes of which we have not seen in our lifetimes- the collapse of empire, the demise of democracy, the erosion of women’s rights and LGBTQIA+ rights and black rights, the attempt to dehumanize immigrants and people of color, the concentration camps in the USA – the list is so long I don’t think I can accurately cover it all here. With ‘Powerless’ – I invoke the hammer; both to destroy and to build – something better. I want people to know they are not alone – they are not insane – I wanted to name the thing that has been causing me so much mental, emotional and spiritual anguish. Sometimes singing – especially repeating phases – can work to fortify one’s self and I think that’s where the bridge of ‘Powerless’ comes in – I refuse to let my agency and resolve become corrupted or diluted by the powers that be and I want others to feel empowered too.”
