Belle & Sebastian have made a Scotland World Cup Anthem which is titled “It Only Takes One Lion” and is out now via Matador. It’s a nostalgic indie disco banger, very Style Council, and cover art featuring a very young Stuart Murdoch in his football uniform.

“It’s a personal song about following the travails of Scotland’s national team for the last 50 years and it came out naturally the day after the game against Denmark,” Murdoch says. “The song tries to encompass the experience of the whole country following Scotland.”

Watch the video below.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup starts June 11 and Scotland’s first match is against Haiti on Saturday, June 13 at Boston Stadium.

James Handy, an actor who had appeared in a number of films including Top Gun: Maverick and Logan, has died at the age of 81. His girlfriend’s son was arrested and accused of murder.

A statement by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), shared by Variety, read: “On Wednesday June 3 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley area patrol officers responded to a radio call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The 911 caller stated, ‘I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.’”

It continued: “Upon their arrival, officers discovered 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest. The victim was transported to local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased.

“The suspect flagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for. The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time.”

The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, was arrested for one count of murder with $2million bail set. A representative for the actor said: “With great sadness I can confirm that the gentleman who was attacked and killed on Wednesday in Tarzana was the actor James Handy.”

Beginning his career in 1977, Handy’s best known roles include Jimmy the bartender in Tom Cruise blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, a doctor in 2017 Marvel hit Logan, and an exterminator in the original 1995 version of Jumanji. On TV, he played representative Joe Bruno in political drama The West Wing, Arthur Devlin in the action series Alias, and Captain Jimmy Haverill in NYPD Blue. Top Gun: Maverick would be his final acting credit.

seriously, whats with names like "bassquaker" or "glitchflux"? its like they just smashed two vaguely tech-sounding words together and called it a day. dont get me wrong, some are cool, but others just scream "i used a generator." feels like no one even tries to check if it sounds dumb out loud ive seen a few threads lately about branding for new djs and this keeps coming up. like, if youre trying to stand out, at least pick something that doesnt sound like it belongs on a bad startup logo. or am i the only one who cringes at this stuff? also, quick tip for anyone picking a name: say it in a sentence. "youre listening to dj bassquaker" should not make you laugh.

like i get the whole tiktok era thing shortened attention spans or whatever but some of these tracks legit feel like they end before they even start. you finally get into the vibe and then it’s over. im not asking for a 10-min epic but cmon give us at least 3 solid minutes to enjoy it. feels like half the time im hitting repeat just to feel like i actually listened to the song maybe im getting old but back in the day you could at least count on a solid chorus-bridge-chorus structure. now its like intro, drop, done anyone else feel this way or am i just being a grouch

Steven Spielberg surprised a London pub quiz last night by showing up to ask questions about his own career.

With the legendary director preparing to release his new film Disclosure Day this week, he dropped by a quiz night on Friday (June 5) that was being hosted by the BBC Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb at The Devonshire in Soho.

Spielberg walked into the pub with Colman Domingo, one of the stars of Disclosure Day, to shocked cheers from those in attendance, and read out a question from his phone: “What was the first science fiction film that I ever made?”

Plumb later shared a photo from the quiz on Instagram, writing: “I hosted a Steven Spielberg pub quiz and Steven Spielberg turned up. Yep. I know. I truly, fully know.”

The pub’s co-owner Oisin Rogers told the BBC that Spielberg told him that he had a “lovely time” surprising people at the quiz, and “really enjoyed” his pint of Guinness.

Disclosure Day is Spielberg’s first feature film in four years, following on from his Oscar-winning semi-autobiographical movie The Fabelmans, and it marks his return to sci-fi and alien-themed material, after his landmark films Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.

It is released into cinemas in the UK on Wednesday (June 10) and it stars Josh O’Connor as a whistleblower racing against time to reveal a conspiracy by the government to hide knowledge of extra-terrestrial life. It also stars Emily Blunt, Domingo and Colin Firth.

The early reactions to the film have arrived, with some describing it as Spielberg’s best film in 20 years.

Gizmondo journalist Germain Lussier wrote: “I loved #DisclosureDay”. A dense roller coaster ride blending chase film, love story, & mystery, all wrapped in sci-fi wonder. It’s Spielberg’s best film in 20 years, filled w/ all the magic that makes his films so special, plus an all-time character/performance by Emily Blunt.”

Spielberg was recently one of the final ever guests on The Late Show, and he officially became an EGOT this year after winning a Grammy for producing the documentary Music By John Williams.

ok so i was blasting some tycho earlier (obsessed lately!!) and it got me thinking... lowkey there’s this whole category of songs that just make you feel like you’re drifting weightless in orbit, yknow?? like that dreamy mix of synths and reverb where it’s all chill but also kind of epic?? i cant be the only one who gets that vibe from tracks like 'eclipse' by m83 or 'kids' by pale waves (weird pick but trust me it works)... ...anyway does anyone else get this feeling from certain songs?? or am i just over here turning everything into amateur astronomy again lmao cosmic house + stargazing = my entire personality sometimes lol

also unrelated but speaking of space did you know jupiter has 92 confirmed moons now?? wild how we keep finding more and more... idk why but i love that it’s like a mini solar system of its own up there. makes me wanna write a whole playlist themed around moons tbh. might actually do that later if i dont forget (like i always do hahah)

like i used to skip them all the time on albums cuz they felt like time wasters but now i’m in my mid-30s and some of those instrumentals are legit my favorite parts of the record. like this one album i revisited recently had this weird 2-minute guitar solo thing i always hated as a teen and now i cant stop replaying it. feels like i was too dumb to get it back then. anyone else have that experience or am i just late to the party on appreciating the quiet stuff?

Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir

Spider-Noir is streaming in full now, but does Nicolas Cage’s Ben Reilly become The Spider again? Find out below.

The show is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir and follows Reilly, an aging private investigator and superhero in 1930s New York who grapples with his past in the aftermath of a personal tragedy.

It is set within the world of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, with Cage reprising his role from the 2018 film, and all eight episodes of the show are streaming now on MGM+ in the US and on Amazon Prime Video internationally.

It was developed by Oren Uziel, previously known for 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox, and it also starred Brendan Gleeson, Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Poppola and Jack Huston.

Watch the trailer here:

NME gave the show a three-star review, noting: “In the end, Spider-Noir may face an uphill battle for ratings – how much crossover do the modern Marvel blockbuster and pre-war crime fiction fandoms have? – but there’s a lot of fun to be had here. Much more than with any other recent Spider-Man spin-off, that’s for sure.”

The ending of Spider-Noir explained: does Ben become The Spider again?

Throughout the season, Cage’s Ben Reilly was resisting re-embracing his superhero alter ego, choosing to run from his past following the death of his girlfriend.

At the start of the finale, Brendan Gleeson’s Silvermane and his gang have captured him and his secret identity is on the verge of being exposed. Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li) reveals that she had betrayed Silvermane, however, while Robbie Robbertson (Lamorne Morris) disguises himself as The Spider to protect Ben.

Cat kills Silvermane as his mob empire collapses, while Ben faces off with the superpowered Dirk Leyden, in his persona of Megawatt, eventually throwing him into the path of an oncoming train and killing him.

Ben finally has access to the last dose of the antidote, which could let him escape the burden of The Spider for good, but instead he gives it to Flint Marko, saving him and allowing him to be with Cat.

By giving up his own chance at freedom, Ben accepts the responsibility that he had previously been resisting, and embraces his role and destiny as The Spider.

Blink-182 live at Reading 2024, photo by Andy Ford

Blink-182 have announced their first dates for 2027, with headline shows at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park.

The pop-punk band have been confirmed as topping the bill for the twin German festivals next summer, with both events posting on Instagram yesterday (June 5), saying: “THEY ARE COMING…”

Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park take place on the same weekend every year, with the former being held at the Nürburgring motorsport complex in Western Germany and the latter at the Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg. Most artists play both festivals over the course of the weekend.

Next year’s events are taking place from June 4 to 6, and it will be the band’s first appearance at either festival. Tickets go on sale for next summer’s festivals at 12pm on Tuesday (June 9) – you will be able to get yours here.

This year’s editions of the festivals are happening this weekend, with headline performances from Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Limp Bizkit, Bad Omens, Papa Roach and The Offspring, and the likes of Tom Morello, A Perfect Circle, Mastodon, Three Days Grace and The Pretty Reckless also on the bill.

In February, Blink-182 played what they declared what was their only show of 2026 at the Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona, although they did play a private show for Mercedes in Los Angeles on May 19.

The band’s last album was 2023’s ‘One More Time…’, which itself was their first record in over a decade with the original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker. Their last major tour was the ‘Missionary Impossible’ tour last year.

Drummer Barker is set to be the subject of the new documentary Louder Than Fear, which will be released on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally on August 13, after its world premiere at Tribeca Festival on June 13.

Directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, the doc explores Barker’s life and career, the 2008 plane crash that almost claimed his life, and the “raw and redemptive journey” he embarked on afterwards.

Barker also recently joined Clipse on stage at Coachella 2026, and worked on the new theme song for the show Rooster, alongside R.E.M.‘s Michael Stipe, Andrew Watt and Josh Klinghoffer.

Bassist Hopper, meanwhile, announced that Australian rock band Violent Soho were reuniting during a recent show in Sydney.
