The Cure kicked off their
2026 tour — thier first in three years — at Barcelona’s
Primavera Sound on Friday night. The
severe weather that canceled many sets on Thursday, including Massive Attack’s, was gone and the the crowd was ready to party, gloomy-style, and The Cure brought the hits for their first performance since the special London shows for the release of 2024’s
Songs of a Lost World.
The two-and-a-half-hour performance opened with “Alone” from
Songs of a Lost World and the main set closed with “Endsong,” much like they had done for their 2022/2023 tour. In between it was a parade of classics, including “Pictures of You,” “High,” Lovesong,” “Fascination Street,” “In Between Days,” “Just Like Heaven,” “Push,” “A Forest,” and more.
The did dust a few songs off for Primavera including “Mint Car” which got its first play in 10 years, “alt.end,” which hadn’t been performed since 2018 and “2 Late” and “Wrong Number” which hadn’t been played since 2019.
The nine-song encore was all singles: with Lullaby,” “Hot Hot Hot!!!,” “Wrong Number,” “Let’s Go To Bed,” “The Lovecats,” “Friday I’m in Love,” “Close to Me,” Why Can’t I Be You?” and finally “Boys Don’t Cry” which had the whole of the Parc del Fòrum singing the guitar hook.
The whole set was also
streamed live on Amazon Prime Video.
