songs that feel like they’re mocking you
like you know when a song has this weird upbeat vibe but the lyrics are all ‘life sucks and then you die’ and it’s just *so* on the nose it feels sarcastic? i cant stop listening to those lately they’re either genius or deeply unhinged and i cant tell which anyone else get weirdl...

whats the best song to drop when you need the crowd to go wild???
okay so im away from the decks tonight (😭) but been thinking about those moments when you just KNOW you need to bring the energy UP. like when its been a little too chill for too long and you gotta shake em awake. for me its always been something with a BIG drop — like 'levels'...

anyone else love finding super niche soundtracks for road trips???
like not the usual 'driving playlist' stuff but stuff that matches a specific stretch of highway or quirky roadside stop. last week i was cruising through this tiny town with a half-collapsed dinosaurs-and-aliens theme park and spent hours trying to find songs that felt like 'aba...

astronomy-inspired dream venues???
ok so im thinking about this idea of a rave on the moon? lol hear me out. like imagine the lighting rig is synced to lunar cycles and youve got this huge dome with projectors showing deep space visuals in real time from hubble or james webb feeds. idk if thats even possible but i...

why do people insist on using sync?
lowkey like seriously it’s not that hard to beatmatch by ear. ngl i get it if you’re just starting out but once you’ve been spinning for a while it’s just lazy. also half the time sync screws up the mix anyway when the bpm detection is off. i dont get why so many djs act like it’...

whats the point of dj livestreams?
do people actually watch these or is it just for clout? feels like half the time its just someone noodling around in their bedroom. like, sure, its cool to see setups but if im not at a show whats the draw? i get wanting to support artists but id rather just listen to a mix they...

why arent people talking about field recording setups
so many producers rely on stock samples but field recording is cheap and gives tracks mad character. grabbed a zoom h4n last year and been dragging it everywhere—parks, alleys, even my kitchen. honestly layering those sounds into beats or using em for fx is wild. got a tip for ne...

songs that make you feel like you're in a coming-of-age movie even if you're just doing laundry
there's this vibe some songs have where it's like you're staring out a car window on a road trip even tho you're just folding socks or something? idk if it's the rhythm or the lyrics but sometimes a track just hits and you're instantly 16 again, even if life is super boring rn 😅...

whats the deal with hardware emulations
so i keep seeing plugins that claim to perfectly emulate some $3000 analog gear and im skeptical. like sure they sound good but are they actually worth it if youre not running a pro studio? seems like a lot of hype for something you could probably get 90% of the way there with st...

bands that dont exist anymore
anyone else miss that era of bands like circa survive or thrice who kinda faded but left bangers behind? i was digging through old playlists and realized how much i miss that mid-2000s post-hardcore sound. tbh not saying it was better just different. like how some of those albums...
