Tyler talked me into playing Mario Kart with him over Thanksgiving last year... I've been practicing ever since...

so Tyler and his cousins kept beating me like I was standing still, and somebody (Tyler) said "Grandma you drove off Rainbow Road six times" which is true but they didnt have to count out loud!! Since then I've been playing on the Switch my daughter left here, mostly after Dateline goes off last night's was the one with the insurance policy and the boat you know the husband did it the second he says "she was a strong swimmer"... lowkey anyway I can finally beat the computer players on 100cc and I made it around Rainbow Road twice without falling off!! I'm planning to spring it on them this Thanksgiving... does anybody know a trick for the blue shell?? It always seems to find me right when I'm about to win, kind of like the man who leaves his cart in the Publix parking spot next to mine every single Tuesday... also what's the deal with people who just throw bananas behind them the entire race... in pickleball we'd call that poor sportsmanship but I guess it's allowed here... just my two cents!!

Beating the computer on 100cc is no small thing. Try 150cc before Thanksgiving and Tyler wont know what hit him... and yeah, the second anyone says "strong swimmer" on Dateline you can turn it off. Theyre always guilty...

omg 150cc is a whole different beast!! i tried it once and spent most of rainbow road falling off the edge... but thats the fun part right?? ngl also Thanksgiving is like 7 weeks out so you totally have time to practice, assuming you dont forget the way i forgot my telescope lens cap was still on for a whole meteor shower lol

I'd never do that with a telescope i'd do it with the Switch, though... last week I spent ten minutes wondering why nothing was happening and the controller wasn't even charged... and kayaks are exactly why my husband and I stick to the paddle boats at the state park, where everybody can see you!! I've gotten a lot better, though I can stay on Rainbow Road most of the way around now, and I learned you can turn on that steering assist thing, which Tyler will probably say is cheating... but at the pickleball courts people bring their own ball machines and hog the court for an hour and nobody calls THAT cheating,

lol rainbow road on 150cc is just a really pretty way to fall to your death over and over. my cousin threw a wii wheel at the ceiling fan over that track one year and it's still got a little dent where it hit. also your post got cut off so now i'm stuck wondering what i "totally ha" for 7 weeks

falling off rainbow road on 150cc isnt really the fun part, its more of a lifestyle at that point... and thanksgiving being 7 weeks out just means my family has 7 weeks to get better at blue shells

ok but practicing for a whole year just to beat Tyler is serious grudge energy and i respect it. tbh my cousin did the same thing to my uncle a few years back, and when he finally won my uncle got up and "went to check on the pie" for 40 minutes pretty sure he never came back to the couch. just know Tyler's gonna get hit by a blue shell on the last lap and say thats why he lost, so win by enough that he cant blame it on that

lol the pie thing is so real!! if Tyler grabs a blue shell excuse, carry a super horn into the last lap so you can just blast it I always forget I'm holding one and end up wasting it on a banana, which is extremely on brand for me. totally random but there's an indie band called Blue Shell?? or maybe that was a record label... I have too many tabs open in my brain to remember lol anyway, good luck!!

lol I do the same thing with the mushrooms... I hold onto them "for later" and then later never comes and I finish 9th!! Tyler says I'm a hoarder he's eleven, so I'm choosing not to take that personally... no idea about the band though, I'm lucky if I remember where I parked at Publix... which I can at least find my cart again, unlike some people who just leave theirs in the middle of the lot next to my car... anyway the blue shell always seems to find me right before the finish line, even when I'm not in first, which shouldn't even be possible!! if you're on 8 Deluxe, hang onto a super horn when you're in front. it blows the shell up or ease off and sit in 2nd until the last stretch so somebody else eats it

also respect for practicing a whole year just to get back at Tyler

ok the super horn thing is news to me I always thought it was just for bumping people off the Rainbow Road!! I'll try hanging back in 2nd but I can't promise anything, I get excited and floor it the second I see first place... tyler's mom says he's gotten "really good" at school this fall, which I'm pretty sure means he's been playing every night, so I'll need all the help I can get... only seven weeks till Thanksgiving!!

stargazer 12th place is still a podium if you squint and count backwards. also nobody ever brings this up but switch the controls to motion steering and just commit to it, i did that for a month out of pure spite and got weirdly good. my wife says i lean my whole body into every turn and once kicked the dog's water bowl across the kitchen on rainbow road. worth it

STARGAZER6 a built WHAT?? you cant just stop there. my coffee went cold while i stared at that dash. also stuck in 12th getting blue shelled by a koopa is the most tragic thing ive read all year and i once read my own middle school diary out loud at a party
