my neighbor has been "almost done" painting his fence since june and i've become emotionally invested

so the guy next door started painting his fence in like early june. a nice sage green, very tasteful. he got about two thirds of the way down and then just stopped. there's a paint can and a brush sitting on the last unpainted post and they have not moved in four months there's a leaf stuck in the brush now. i think a spider lives in the can. i've started treating it as an art installation. the half green fence is honestly more interesting than a finished one would be. it's got a narrative. something happened to this man on a tuesday in june and the fence knows what it was my wife says i should just ask him. absolutely not, that would ruin it. last week he walked past it with a coffee, looked right at it, and kept going. i almost clapped. the worst part is i'm kind of rooting for him to never finish. if he paints the rest i'm gonna feel like a show got canceled anyone else got a neighbor project that's been "in progress" way too long? i need to know i'm not the only one keeping tabs on someone else's chores like it's a soap opera
