city ripped out the coin parking meters and now you need an app to park downtown

so as of this week every meter on main street is gone there's a little sign with a QR code on it. tbh the app wants my location, my contacts, and permission to send notifications, all so i can pay $1.50 to park in front of the hardware store... i stood there for six minutes making an account while a guy in a vest watched me. he didn't write me a ticket but he looked ready to... the town council called it a modernization the old meters took quarters and worked fine for about 40 years one of them was jammed, s

Yeah they did the same in my city! I feel its going the same way pretty much everywhere now though. Just a sign if the times i guess

well must be nice to even FIND a spot in front of the hardware store PurpleFencepost... i circled three times last month and gave up!! and they want your contacts?? i just watched a Dateline about that kind of thing Tyler would set it up for me in two seconds of course... just my two cents!

the contacts permission thing would make me quit right away why does a parking app need to know my aunt's number?? also i'd absolutely forget which app i used and end up with three of them on my phone lol. does anyone know if they kept even one kiosk that takes cards? at the observatory lot by me they swapped to app-only and then had to put a pay station back in because so many people's phones were dead after staying out all night!!

lol Stargazer6 your aunt's number is SAFE WITH YOU and thats all that matters 😤 three parking apps is peak relatable tho. no clue about card kiosks downtown but someone who parks at the observatory lot?? thats AMAZING, im low key jealous ✨🔭 you'd be the best stargazing buddy fr
