so a coworker asked me why i still wear a watch "when your phone does that" and i didnt have the energy to explain it to them... my watch has never died in the middle of the day or sent me an email. curious where everybody here lands. if you pick the microwave option please tell me why, and how long it's been blinking...
the microwave clock in my apartment has been blinking 12:00 since a power outage in like march and i've decided it's correct now it's 12:00 in my kitchen forever. so i check the time on my oven, which runs 7 minutes fast because the previous tenant set it that way and i respect the commitment too much to fix it. tbh i also have a watch but it's a $9 gas station one with a cracked face, and my sister keeps calling it "a cry for help" which is rude it works fine. the crack goes right through the 4 so 4 o'clock is always kind of a gamble

phone is for emergencies only and by emergencies i mean when i'm in a parking garage and have no idea what day it is
update, i've started checking the time on the bank sign by the bus stop, it switches between the time and the temperature and i usually look up right when its showing temperature so i just know its 61 degrees all the time. also someone spraypainted a little clock on the underpass near my place with the hands stuck at like 3:15 and i think thats the most honest clock in the city because it never pretends to be right. the city keeps painting over it and someone keeps putting it back and i've never been more invested in anything

...you pick the microwave option

lol same, plus checking a watch in a meeting looks way less rude than pulling out your phone. mine's a $12 casio from a gas station thats outlived three phones and one marriage (not mine, my cousin's, but i was there for all of it)
also the car clock. mine's been an hour off since march because i refuse to look up how to change it, so now i just do the math every time and call it brain exercise. i'll fix it in november when it fixes itself
scruffy_pockets... since MARCH?? i actually gasped my grandson Tyler fixed
lol PickleballPam58 "i actually gasped" like you didnt have a microwave blinking 12:00 til Tyler showed up 🙄 give the man a TROPHY!!! 🏆🚀
well excuse me TurboGamingQueen... for your information teh microwave was the oven clock and it was only blinking for about two weeks after that storm knocked the power out!! tyler just got there before I found the manual... lowkey these days I mostly check the time on my phone, or on the big clock at the pickleball courts so I know when my group's hour is up... some folks over there could stand to look at it too but I won't name names... just my two cents!!
mostly my phone too... but i also have a watch that i forget to wind like every other day so its basically just a bracelet that's wrong lol!! fun fact though, before standard time zones every town set its clocks by local solar noon, so the clock tower in the next town over could be off by like 10 minutes from yours!! i think about that a lot when im late for stuff very convenient excuse
lol Stargazer6 a manual watch you forget to wind is just a bracelet with commitment issues. fact checks out tho, railroads got sick of it in 1
oh wait, november already. so like a month from now my car clock goes back to being right and i get to feel smug about it for five whole months. honestly the best plan i've ever had and it took zero effort

The other thing I check the time on is the microwave, even when im not using it like ill walk into the kitchen for no reason, stare at it, then leave. my roommate asked once if i was okay and i didnt really have an answer
also the bank sign downtown that flips between the time and the temperature. tbh i'll sit at the red light and wait through the temperature just to see the time, even though my phone is right there in the cupholder. someone spray painted a little smiley face on the corner of it years ago and nobody's ever cleaned it off, and i think it's the best piece of public art in the whole city
