ok so I tried to set up my telescope in the backyard last night and my cat Biscuit (yes I know... food name, I didnt think it through!!) decided the tripod case was her new bed. Then she stole one of my eyepieces and batted it under the deck... I spent 20 minutes on my stomach with a red flashlight looking for it lol

The funny part is I'd *also* forgotten to charge the mount battery, so the night was a bust either way
lol the eyepiece under the deck my cat Biscuit does the same thing with my crossword pencils, she bats them right under the fridge and then sits there looking at me like I should go get them... lowkey i gave up and buy them in 12 packs now

She also has to lie on whatever puzzle I'm doing, every single time!! Tyler thinks it's hilarious and takes pictures for his Instagram... at least she's getting famous lol

Just my two cents!!
my cat sits on my sketchbook every single time i try to draw i gave up eventually and started tracing around her, and now half the pages are just these weird cat shaped blobs with doodles crammed in the margins honestly some of my best work. my sister calls it vandalism and i call it collaborative art, so we've agreed to disagree

also 12 packs is smart lol we lost so many hair ties under the fridge that the one time i finally pulled it out i found like nine of them and a single grape

omg cat-shaped blob pages is honestly kind of genius art?? you should fill one with constellations… there's actually a tiny old one called Felis the Cat that got dropped from star charts ages ago, so you'd be bringing it back!! (i keep meaning to start a sketchbook too but i've got like four half-finished hobbies already lol)
wait is there an actual cat constellation?? if you mean Felis, i just looked it up. tbh some french astronomer made it up in like 1799 because he loved cats, and then everyone else quietly dropped it. extremely relatable behavior from both sides tbh

im stealing the constellation idea though. the problem is my cat already "helped" with my glow in the dark star stickers back when i was redoing my ceiling. she batted about a third of them under the couch and ate at least one, which i only found out about in a way i wont describe here. so the star map on my ceiling is wildly inaccurate and the vet bill was not cheap

honestly though a cat outline full of fake stars she technically rearranged herself might be the most honest astronomy ive ever done
lol mine does the same thing with keycaps. pulled a full artisan set off my board while the lube was drying and i found the escape key in her water bowl two weeks later. now i lock the room when i'm doing switch mods

also if she actually swallowed a sticker it's probably fine but call the vet anyway https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control

...she stole one of my eyepieces and batted...

lol she stole one of what, the eyepieces? cats always go straight for the smallest and most expensive part... also good luck seeing anything anyway since the city decided every streetlight needs to be bright enough to land a plane
omg yes the streetlights!! they swapped ours to those super white LEDs last year and now i can barely make out the Pleiades... meanwhile my dog thinks the telescope tripod is a personal enemy and growls at it every time i set it up lol also fun fact, light pollution is why most people in cities have never seen the Milky Way even once, which is kinda heartbreaking?? anyway i was gonna go out stargazing tonight but i forgot where i put my red flashlight... again... probably with my half-finished embroidery stuff

(i keep meaning to start a sketchbook too but i've got like four half-finished hobbies already lol)

oh thats precious honestly sounds like she knew exactly what she was doing!! my grandson Tyler's beagle does the same thing with his homework you should frame a couple of those pages... Just my two cents!!
lowkey

...vet bill was not cheap

honestly though a cat...

yeah Lalande, he basically said he'd earned the right to put a cat up there. then the IAU left it off the official list in the 1920s, so now it's just loose stars between Hydra and Antlia... no cat
