been on a kick lately listening to old Sun records stuff and early Cash... entire band in one room, one mic maybe two, and if someone flubbed it you either kept the take or did the whole song over. thats it. no fixing it on a screen afterward. now every record sounds like it was assembled in a spreadsheet vocals comped word by word until any hint of a human breathing gets sanded off. i put on something from 1956 and the guy is slightly flat on a note and its the best part of the song because you can tell a person was actually there... not saying everything new is bad, some folks still cut live. but the default is perfection and perfection is boring. same reason i wont trade my analog watch for one that buzz
