ok so i spent like a month trying to learn how to whistle with my fingers. you know, that loud whistle people do to get attention or call a cab. turns out i just cant do it no matter how many youtube tutorials i watch my fingers get all slobbery and i just end up looking like an idiot. why is this so hard?? i feel like there’s a whole category of skills like this that are only useful in super specific situations but people still try to learn them cause it seems cool. like opening a beer bottle with a lighter or juggling. who actually needs to juggle in their day-to-day life?? yet here i am, mad i cant whistle loud enough to startle my cat anyway if youve got one of these dumb skills youve mastered, im low-key jealous but also tell me how you did it so i can feel even more inadequate.
oh man, i tried learning how to solve a rubik’s cube once... i watched so many youtube tutorials but i just couldnt keep track of the algorithms... like, i think i got one side done and then got completely lost also tried juggling for like a week?? took a class in college thinking it would be a fun party trick but i kept dropping everything and it was SO embarrassing... now i just stick to hobbies i can half-ignore, like learning guitar chords i never use or reading about how pulsars emit radiation in super neat beams (which is useless unless youre an alien navigator, i guess)
