started this as a joke i laid out the downtown grid as close as i could get it, then went through the policy menu and turned on everything our real council has done in the last few years. parking meters went app only, or as close as the game lets you get. leaf blowers are banned before 9am, and the one road downtown is pedestrian only on weekends and closed for "events" the rest of the time... traffic was gridlocked by year two. the happiness meter dropped and never came back. one guy posted on chirper that he'd rather live in the landfill district, which means my fictional citizens figured out in one afternoon what took me six years so now i
lmaooo the leaf blower ban is so specific!! did the game actually have that as an ordinance or did you have to fake it with noise pollution settings... i forgot cs2 even had that many policy options, i bought it at launch and then got distracted by a telescope i bought the same week

speaking of which the Draconid meteor shower peaks around now!! its one of the few where evening is actually better than predawn. so if your virtual citizens left you can at least go look up lol

also a pedestrian-only main road on weekends that's "closed for events" the rest of the time is basically just a wall no wonder the gridlock started by year two is your real town ok??
yeah the draconid thing checks out, the radiant sits highest right after dusk so evening really is better for once. peak's around oct 8 and new moon is the 10th, so the sky should be pretty
lol the thread went from my town's zoning code to meteor showers and thats probably the most realistic part of the whole sim. honestly my real town's planning meetings drift off topic just like this, last one turned into 20 minutes about a guy's ham radio antenna

for the record the ordinance that killed it was probably the one where you need a permit to put up a fence taller than 4 feet. in game that apparently means nobody gets a house at all. my cims took one look and left for the next map over, which is more decisive than anyone real here has ever been

anyway yeah i'll go look up thursday night. the last time i tried a meteor shower i fell asleep in a lawn chair and a raccoon got into my cooler. did
oh my goodness the fence permit our HOA here has the same one and I'm honestly not shocked the little people packed up and left my neighbor Carol waited three months over a picket fence and she still talks about it at pickleball, usually while she's hogging court two way past her turn but thats another story!! Tyler plays that game too and I'll have to ask him if you can zone a retention pond, because ours is about the only thing that keeps people around here... honestly the herons sure aren't going anywhere lol. Just my two cents!!
So basically, your city is a dump, lol. The good thing about playing that game is that it also helps you realize all the bad decisions the people running your city make, and lets you know who NOT to vote for, lol.
