real question when the station ID or the airhorn hits a half second late, is that the software or the button

i built a little 3x4 macropad for a friend who streams. lubed tactiles, foam under the plate, keycaps with labels on them. dead quiet and you can hit the keys without looking. now i keep listening to the drops on here and wondering what's behind them

if its a stream deck thats
the button's almost never the delay. a qmk board polling at 1000hz is about 1ms your audio buffer in the dj software is way more, so check that first. lol someone go tell me magnetic hall effect switches with rapid trigger make airhorns hit harder https://docs.qmk.fm/features/key_overrides
i dont know a thing about polling rates... but my grandson Tyler DJs his friends' parties and he fires his airhorns off an old iPad with some sound app on it nobody's ever complained about it being slow, at least not that he tells me!! The blue heron at our retention pond makes a louder honk than any of those drops anyway Just my two cents!!

...effect switches with rapid trigger make...

yeah check the buffer first, 512 samples at 44.1k is already over 11ms before your fancy switches even come into it. and nobody needs hall effect for cueing a track, my watch doesnt even have a battery and it keeps up fine...

yeah the buffer's usually the culprit, but qmk's default debounce is 5ms too so the switch isnt totally off the hook and nobody needs to hear about hall effect switches again, my watch has one moving part and it's never lagged once

half a second is way too long to be the switch. debounce is a few milliseconds at most, so your lubed tactiles are fine id look at the soundboard app or whatever audio device its playing through, some of them go to sleep when its quiet and take a moment to wake up... also its kind of funny that a half second delay ruins the joke but nobody can tell you what time it is without pulling out a phone...
