wikipedia's "longest-running hoax" list keeps getting cited as gospel on tiktok and half of them are already debunked on the talk pages

saw a creator with like 800k followers read off "facts" from a 2019 listicle that scraped wikipedia hoax articles. three of the five had been corrected years ago. one of them was itself a hoax about a hoax. incredible stuff

talk pages exist people. honestly the revision history is right there. takes 30 seconds

left a comment with the diff link. got 4 likes and a reply saying "source?" which. ok

anyway does anyone know a decent way to track when a creator corrects a video or do they just never do that
lol "source?" in reply to the literal diff link... incredible!! i'd have gotten distracted halfway through writing a comeback and forgotten the thread existed tbh. lowkey the toaster guy one gets me every time because it was in actual books and news before anyone caught it

also unrel
the toaster one got me too, that fake MacMasters guy was in BBC articles and school worksheets for about ten years before anyone checked... meanwhile my watch has told the right time since 1987 and nobody had to fix it on a talk page
