ngl so I walk past the retention pond every morning before the 7am pickleball group... and there's one great blue heron who parks himself in the exact same spot by the drainage pipe like, and lately he's been standing on ONE leg for an hour, maybe more I timed it Saturday because I'm retired and apparently that's what I do now!! Tyler says it's normal and they do it to keep warm... but it's still in the 80s here so I'm not sure I buy that... he also told me the heron "doesn't need a welfare check, Grandma" which I thought was a little rude!! The other heron, the smaller one, never does it... she walks around and actually catches things... so now I'm wondering if one-leg guy is hurt or just lazy... I watched a Dateline last night where the neighbors all noticed something was off and nobody said anything, so I'd rather ask... Do any of you bird people know if there's an injury sign I should look for?? he flew off fine Sunday when a man let his dog off the leash, which is a whole other topic the sign says leashes required, it's right there in big letters... Just my two cents!!
