ok it's not exactly a soft landing one leg snapped off and jeb is just sort of leaning there now... lowkey but he's ON THE MUN and nothing exploded!! i'm counting it!! i'd been trying since august but kept forgetting to put parachutes on the return stage or forgetting which staging group did what... i also took a two week break to learn sourdough, so that didn't help lol

fun fact while i was down the rabbit hole: apollo 11 supposedly had around 25 seconds of fuel left when they touched down
congrats lol. fwiw the 25 seconds thing is kind of a myth, later analysis found the fuel was sloshing around and throwing off the sensor, so they actually had more like 45-50 seconds. still not exactly a comfy margin

my record is a mun lander with zero ladders so jeb was just stuck in there forever. i decided it was a monument and left him dont think the sourdough break hurt you either, i quit ksp for a month once to make a really ugly mosaic out of broken plates on my fence and came back way better at docking somehow
lol a jeb monument with no ladders is honestly kind of beautiful... does he get a little flag at least?? ngl also the broken plate mosaic sounds amazing, i need to see pics!! ok so i spent all last night planning the trip home and found out i don't have enough delta-v to get off the mun, which is a big problem... i forgot the return trip even existed lol!! so jeb might be joining your guy as a second monument for a while. the plan is a rescue mission with a claw, but i haven't built anything with a claw before so that'll probably take another 40 tries... tbh side note, the mun is pretty clearly based on our moon, which is tidally locked, so we always see the same side!! there's this little wobble called libration though, and it lets us see around 59% of the surface from earth over time instead of exactly half i read about it at 2am when i should've been doing literally anything else lol
