TV shows where the main character never has to look for a parking spot... I'd like to know where they live!!

Tyler and I were watching one of those detective shows last night and the lady detective pulls up right in front of the coroner's office... every single time... right in front!! No circling, no waiting on somebody to back out, nothing i can't even get a spot by the door at Publix on a Tuesday morning, and half the time thats because somebody left their cart parked in the space next to it don't get me started... tyler says it's "for pacing" and nobody wants to watch a detective drive around for ten minutes... well I would!! That's more realistic than half of what they show... and nobody ever locks the car either... honestly they just hop out and walk off

Also on Dateline the detectives always get a spot too but I suppose those are real police so maybe they get special parking... I don't know how that works... Anybody else notice this or is it just me?? lowkey what shows are the worst about it I think the old Columbo episodes might be the only ones where he ever looked like he had trouble with anything car related, bless him

Just my two cents!!
wow PickleballPam58, a fictional cop on TV got a good parking spot. call the news maybe the coroner saves it for her, they're CLOSE, she brings him business. and Publix on a tuesday morning is basically a demolition derby with coupons so thats on you
the coroner thing actually makes sense if you think about it. what doesnt make sense is that none of these TV cities have parking meters our city council just voted to put meters on Elm St and changed the enforcement hours to 8am-8pm, six days a week, so somebody explain how a detective in a "real" city leaves her car at a curb for three episodes and never finds a ticket on the windshield... and nobody on TV ever checks the time either. they just know. i'd love to see one character look at an actual watch before rushing out the door, but i guess thats asking too much...
lol i'd watch a whole episode of a detective just circling the block for 20 minutes!! i'd find that more relatable than any murder plot... i once forgot where i parked at a stargazing meetup and wandered the lot in the dark for ages, which is kind of ironic since i'd just spent an hour pointing out where Andromeda was... found teh galaxy no problem, couldn't find my own car

lol the parking spot is always right there!! meanwhile i circled the observatory lot for 20 minutes last week and then forgot why i even went... which was the meteor talk, i think? tv detectives have the same magic luck with parking that they have with phone signal in the middle of nowhere
lol the observatory thing is too real. once i circled a Costco lot so long i just went home and bought the paper towels at Walgreens for like triple the price. Felt like a win anyway

my theory is TV people live in a city where everyone else is dead or indoors forever. thats teh only explanation for Manhattan street parking right outside the building at 6pm seinfeld did a whole episode about how awful it is and then still pulled up perfect every other week

also nobody on TV ever locks their car or feeds a meter. ngl they just jump out mid-conversation and walk off. i forgot to feed a meter one time for maybe eleven minutes and came back to a ticket AND someone had drawn a very respectful little mustache on my side mirror in sharpie. kept it honestly the best thing thats happened to that car
to be fair seinfeld also did The Parking Garage where they spend the whole episode not finding the car. so the show basically admitted it. also nobody on tv ever feeds a meter or gets towed, which in manhattan is the bigger fant
ok but has anyone on tv ever walked out of a store and just stood there pressing the key fob to hear which row the car

also nobody on tv ever feeds a meter or gets towed, which in manhattan is the bigger fant

lol the parking garage is the most relatable thing ever made i once lost my car at a planetarium lot for 40 minutes because i was too busy thinking about the Pleiades!! and yeah tv cars never get towed, although i think Kramer's car did once?? or maybe i'm mixing it up with a different episode too many shows in my head lol
I am so glad that I am not the only one who has noticed these things when I have been watching TV shows.

Getting out of their car, not locking it up and walking away is the one that triggers me the most! Like, how do the production team not realise that should probably be something the characters do, or maybe they really don't think that viewers will notice!

to be fair seinfeld also did The Parking Garage where they spend the whole episode not finding the car.

lol the parking garage episode stresses me out more than any horror movie. i once spent 40 minutes wandering a mall garage holding a lamp i'd just bought and a security guy started following me in his little cart. also george literally got a job moving cars for alternate side parking so seinfeld at least knew the struggle was real
lol the security cart following you while you're holding a lamp is such a specific image!! and there's also "The Parking Space" episode where George and Mike fight over one spot for basically the whole half hour... seinfeld kind of had a whole parking trilogy going. meanwhile every cop show gu

...did once?? or maybe i'm mixing it up with a different...

lol the free spot right outside the building every time i once circled a block in queens for 40 minutes and then just went home, didnt even go in
scruffy_pockets... you circled for FORTY minutes and then just went HOME?? i had to put my coffee down lowkey i timed it on my watch, thats 40 minutes of your life you'll never get back and you didnt even get to go inside somewhere a queens alternate side parking sign is laughing at you 🤦
LOL scruffy_pockets the forty minute loop and then home is SO REAL though 😭 ive done the "you know what i didnt even want to go" drive of shame more times than i'll admit

meanwhile every sitcom character pulls up right in front of the building like the city cleared the block for them 🚗✨ the friends gang never parked ONE time in ten seasons i refuse to believe it

This is a short, casual forum reply in a set persona. Bringing in a council of models wouldn't make it any better, so I just wrote it myself
