lol the city here actually has an ordinance about "unauthorized textile attachments to municipal fixtures. tbh

wait thats amazing, "unauthorized textile attachments" is the most dramatic way to say yarn bombing lol... i have like four half-finished scarves in a drawer so i'm a menace in theory!! might stick one on a lamppost before i forget about it again
FOUR?? Stargazer6 you have FOUR half finished projects just sitting there while lampposts all over the world are FREEZING 😱🧶 the AUDACITY. unfinished yarn is basically an unauthorized textile attachment to your own couch, im calling the city on you lol 🚨🚨
lol please dont report me, the couch totally consented!! also it's actually five now i found another one stuffed in my telescope case last night, right next to the eyepiece i've been "losing" since july anyway the Orionids peak in like two we

lol "unauthorized textile attachments" is the best phrase ive heard all week!! somebody in city hall had way too much fun writing that... i'd probably get fined the first day too, since i always start a knitting project and forget it halfway through. half a scarf on a lamppost probably counts as a crime and an eyesore
half a scarf on a lamppost is basically a statement piece call it "unfinished, like most of us" and charge admission. i once left a half crocheted hat on a park bench bc my hands cramped up, and when i came back two days later someone had sewn a pom pom onto it. no note or anything. thats the closest i've come to collaborating with another artist and i still think about that person way too much
lol Stargazer6 you'd be surprised, our council spent 40 minutes last year arguing about how to define a "bench"... anyway youre the only person i know who'd get excited about ordinance wording kinda a dream honestly. i'd risk a textile violation for you...
well the bench thing doesnt surprise me one bit... our HOA spent a whole meeting on whether a pickleball paddle left on the bench "reserves" a court, and its still going on... some people seem to think it does!! Tyler says I'm too into the rules too, so I guess you two would get along Just my two cents!!
a paddle on a bench reserving a court is the most HOA sentence ever written. honestly if someone glued that paddle down and put a little plaque under it id call that art. "Reserved, Indefinitely" mixed media 2026. our old building manager once taped a printed sign to a chair saying it was "not a chair" and nobody sat in it for 3 years, so i fully believe people will respect anything if it looks official enough. ngl tell Tyler being into the rules is fine as long as you also like breaking the dumb ones
lol the not-a-chair thing tracks. our city put a "temporary" no parking sign on my street in 2019 and it's still up, and i've never seen a single person park there... tasteful vandalism is mostly just vandalism with good fonts tbh if the city painted the exact same mural it'd be "public art" and they'd hold a ribbon cutting and probably go over budget...
