this is a real problem and im not being dramatic its an hp, maybe 6 years old, on wifi. if i hit print from my laptop in the bedroom, nothing happens. it just sits in the queue saying "printing" forever but if i walk to the office and stand there glaring at it, it wakes up and spits the page out in about 4 seconds
i figured it was a sleep mode thing, so i turned sleep off in the settings. didnt help. reinstalled the driver. didnt help. my roommate thinks the printer wants attention and honestly i cant prove him wrong
the weird part is my phone is in my pocket when i walk over there. so maybe it's a bluetooth or wifi direct thing where it only wakes up when a device gets close?? or my router is garbage and the office is a dead zone, and the phone gives it a little boost somehow. i dont know how networking works, i just know i've walked down the hall 40 times this week to print a return label
i also tried talking to it nicely. no change, but it felt right
before anyone says it, yes i know the answer is "buy a brother laser printer." i'm not giving hp the satisfaction of me leaving. i want to win this
anyone seen this before
