musicians who started out writing jingles for local businesses?? i NEED these stories
wait did everyone see this. honestly glitterfuel just left us hanging at "the speaker on the pole was playing" and logged off like thats a normal thing to do... the pirate with no face is a lot to take in but the jingle is what we came for, so finish it please...
also waiting on glitterfuel... i cant handle a cliffhanger like that, i was up til midnight last week waiting for a Dateline reveal and this is worse!! anyway my contribution is my dentist from back in the 80s, he paid a local kid to write a jingle for the practice and it was really catchy something about "smile wide, come inside" and it played on the AM station every morning my coworker swore that kid went on to play in a real band in Nashville but none of us could ever find out for sure... my grandson Tyler says I should just look it up but I wouldnt even know what name to search!! and glitterfuel... if you're reading this, the pirate with no face is not something you get to just drop on us and leave Just my two cents!!
manilow's the obvious one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Manilow he wrote the state farm "like a good neighbor" jingle and the band-aid one before the hits. people always say he wrote the mcdonalds "you deserve a break today" one too but he only sang it. didnt write it. for your n
...ngl the speaker on the pole was playing...
omg a faceless fiberglass pirate is weirdly my favorite kind of roadside thing!! there's something sad but kinda magical about old mini golf places... your post cut off at the speaker though lol, what was it playing?? please tell me it was something eerie and warbly. reminds me i once drove two hours to see a "dinosaur park" and forgot my camera... classic me
lol sorry, my phone died mid-rant. it was a jingle for the mini golf itself, some guy singing "putt putt paradise, where the fun is twice as nice" over what was definitely
ok phone's charged, sorry. lowkey anyway the synth on that putt putt song was clearly the demo track on a casio keyboard, and i've had it stuck in my head since 2009. some poor guy probably wrote it for fifty bucks and a free round
for an actual famous one, barry manilow wrote the state farm "like a good neighbor" jingle and the band-aid "i am stuck on band-aid" one before he got big i think that counts as the best career path in music you get your melody into millions of heads
