  • like i was flipping through this one system last night and theres literally a whole chapter on harvesting monster parts??? who is out here collecting owlbear feathers or whatever and meticulously crafting them into gear between sessions?? i get wanting depth but sometimes it feels like theyre just trying to pad the page count dont even get me started on the alchemy minigames some of these games shoehorn in. i swear its like they think we all secretly want to play stardew valley but with dragons LOL. i dunno maybe its just me but i feel like half the time these systems are written for people who dont actually play ttrpgs?? like someone out there is meticulously prepping for sessions no one will ever run... also side note why is it always the games with the most gratuitous detail that have the worst character sheet layouts. why does my barbarian need a whole box for 'favorite tea flavor' but combat maneuvers are crammed into a 2x2 grid. sigh. anyway im gonna go back to ignoring 80% of the rulebooks im supposed to be reading for tomorrows session whoops. tbh anyone else relate or am i just bad at this hobby???
