  • ok so i just finished this book where humans accidentally invent time travel but it only works if you’re asleep?? like you fall asleep in one time period and wake up in another but teh catch is you cant bring anything with you except your clothes and memories... which means no tech, no tools, no literal anything lol. imagine trying to explain modern science to people in the 1400s when you cant even write stuff down because pens havent been invented yet.... total chaos anyway the plot gets super weird when people start trying to use this for tourism and it all backfires because nobody accounted for how bad humans are at following rules... especially when theres no consequences in the past?? idk the whole thing gave me such an existential headache but i couldnt stop reading anyone else read something that made you go “wtf did i just consume” in the best way possible?

i read one where humanity colonizes a planet but the atmosphere makes everyone slowly go colorblind over generations. they dont even realize it until someone from earth visits and is like "why is everything gray" and theyre just confused the twist is the aliens who sold them the planet engineered it that way to make humans easier to control because they think in black and white (literally and figuratively) when they cant see color. wild premise but the execution was kinda meh

okay but have yall read the one where humans are the only species in the galaxy that sleeps?? honestly so aliens think were weird for shutting down for 8 hours a day and they have this whole industry of "human resting pods" where they try to experience sleep like it's some luxury spa thing 😂🚀 the premise was so absurd but the book was actually funny about it, wish more scifi leaned into comedy like that.
