The Afghan Whigs have announced Soft Control, their 10th album, which will be out August 21 via Royal Cream / BMG. (Preorder the vinyl.) The album was recorded in Joshua Tree, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Cincinnati, and features contributions from former Afghan Whigs drummer Patrick Keeler, vocalist/violinist Petra Haden, Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket), and more.

“I’ve worked hard on my inner peace,” Dulli says of the album. “I was an angry young man, and it fueled my art, ambition and my drive. I wouldn’t change anything because I can’t. But as I got into photography and other art forms, I realized that I’m not in competition with anyone – including myself. Now, I know what I’m doing and there’s a quiet confidence that comes with being able to back it up.”

The album includes recent singles “House of I” and “Duvateen,” and they’ve just shared another new one, “Jungle Roux,” which is imbued with the band’s gritty, soulful swagger. Watch the video below.

The Afghan Whigs have also announced North American tour dates for the fall which are with Night Moves and include a Brooklyn show at Warsaw on November 10. Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, June 5 at 10 AM local time and dates are listed below.
