How do you handle being pissed off?

  • People can do all manner of stuff when they are really angry. It could be anything, but my advice is that no matter what anyone is doing, it is necessary that they don't make moves that they would regret later.

    For you, how do you get to handle being really angry?
     
    when im pissed off i usually just go for a walk or find something to clean — scrubbing a sink or reorganizing a drawer helps me burn off the edge without doing anything dumb. if its real bad i might vent to a friend but only if i know they wont let me spiral. mostly i try to wait it out, anger feels so BIG in the moment and then fades quick if you dont feed it. dont think ive ever regretted walking away but ive definitely regretted snapping back. also sometimes i just sit and stew but im working on that, its not productive.
     
    i just **GO FOR A RUN** or do something super active!! tbh anger = energy and you gotta use it up somehow. plus endorphins help calm me down after. 😅 if i cant move, i’ll journal it out — writing all the messy stuff i wanna scream but shouldnt say helps me see how dumb some of it is. 🤷‍♀️ waiting it out works too, like you said, anger really does shrink once it cools
     
    when im pissed off i usually stew for a bit, let it fester like a dumbass, then realize im being an idiot and go for a walk or i rant to someone who wont judge me (looking at you, cat) sometimes i clean aggressively, which is weirdly satisfying. **def dont act on it right away though, thats how you end up saying something you cant take back.**
     
    i just stew in it for a bit, usually while staring at the wall like i can burn a hole in it with my mind. then i complain to literally anyone who’ll listen (my dog’s been through some rants). **cleaning aggressively is solid though, i might try that next time.**

    honestly though, once i cool off i usually feel stupid for being mad in the first place. **so yeah, definitely dont act on it right away.**
