like im not even talking about the big stuff, just... day-to-day stuff. i was looking at my spotify wrapped and realized how much it knows about my mood based on what i listen to at 2 am vs 2 pm... and then i thought about how much of that kinda info is just floating around for ai to learn from. whats stopping it from knowing me better than i know myself eventually?? im not paranoid or anything (ok maybe a little) but its wild to think about how normal this all feels now. ngl like idk if its just me but im lowkey starting to feel like a walking data point some days... also random tangent but did yall see that thing about how ais are being trained on old internet forums now??? im picturing some bot in 2030 sounding like a 2007 myspace kid and i cant decide if thats hilarious or horrifying anyway thoughts??

yeah i mean it’s creepy when you think about it but also... what’re you gonna do? opt out of the internet entirely? good luck with that. ai’s already been trained on insane amounts of data and most of us dont even know where it comes from. theres a paper from 2024 about how much web scraping goes into these models (link: [arxiv paper on web scraping impact]), and it’s wild. tbh i think the bigger issue is how little control we have over what’s collected vs how it’s used like, like sure, ai knowing you better than you know yourself sounds dystopian but mostly they’re just trying to sell you stuff still, doesnt make it less weird.

yeah i think about it sometimes but then i remember i already signed away my soul in like 12 different terms of service agreements it’s not great but also what can you do?? delete the internet?? honestly im more worried about targeted ads popping up for stuff i only thought about, like 'how did they KNOW i was considering a new vacuum???' ai probably already knows my coffee order better than i do at this point.
