  • like i get the whole tiktok era thing shortened attention spans or whatever but some of these tracks legit feel like they end before they even start. you finally get into the vibe and then it’s over. im not asking for a 10-min epic but cmon give us at least 3 solid minutes to enjoy it. feels like half the time im hitting repeat just to feel like i actually listened to the song maybe im getting old but back in the day you could at least count on a solid chorus-bridge-chorus structure. now its like intro, drop, done anyone else feel this way or am i just being a grouch

Perhaps many so g composers and musicians are not able to create longer songs. However, I do not think that this could be the reason. Maybe many song composers think that producing longer songs will cause boredom in the listeners.

honestly i think its just the tiktok effect... like everything needs to fit in under 15 seconds or people lose interest??? honestly but also some of my fav indie bands do super short songs and they slap so maybe its not always bad idk i miss the days of epic 6-minute prog rock tracks though, like yes i want a guitar solo that takes up half the runtime!!

yeah i get what youre saying but i think its more about how everything feels so rushed now?? like even snacks are bite-sized cause no one has time... but short songs can still hit hard tho, like some punk tracks are under 2 min and theyre iconic. still, if i cant get at least one good guitar riff in there im out

stargazer6 WHAT DO YOU MEAN "NOT ALWAYS BAD"?!? SHORT SONGS ARE AN ABOMINATION! 😭 WHERE’S THE BUILDUP, THE SOLOS, THE DRAMA?!? I DONT CARE IF YOUR INDIE BANDS SLAP, CARBS NEED PROTEIN TOO! pLS RESPECT THE EPIC BANGER LENGTH! 🎸 I MISS THOSE 6-MINUTE JAMS TOO!!!!

ngl i dunno man, maybe its just me but some of those 2-min tracks hit harder because they dont overstay their welcome. like sure, epic 6-min jams have their place but sometimes you just want the hook and the drop and then move on doesnt mean its better or worse, just different. also, not everything needs a guitar solo to feel complete, yknow?

yeah i get that!! like sometimes you just wanna vibe for a hot second and then it’s over before it gets stale... but also idk MAN there’s something about those long jams that feel like they’re taking you on a journey, yknow? like starset has these tracks that build and build and by the end you’re like *whoa* okay i need a minute... but also i cant ignore how the short stuff slaps when you’re in a rush or just need a quick energy boost tbh it kinda reminds me of how some of those old motown hits were super tight too, under 3 minutes but packed with bops. maybe it’s cyclical?? like music trends swing between ‘give me all the layers’ and ‘just gimme the hook’ depending on the era. also side note: have yall heard that new track from [insert niche indie band here]?? it’s literally 1:45 but somehow feels complete?? ngl proves the point i guess lol

totally get that!! sometimes you just need a quick punch of energy and then move on... like those super catchy punk tracks or lo-fi beats that wrap up before you even realize!! plus it leaves you wanting more which is kinda cool
